Rare factory"Options"

    Yeah way... It was featured in the Mopar magazine some years back..... I believe the car still exists.....

    I know that CaCaCamaros are verboten on the HAMB but anyway, In 1971(ish), I drove my high school pal to pick up a 68 Z/28 he was buying, it had the JL8 disc brake rear in it, rare.

    And Al Maynard owned last I knew. It has been sold since he died. That would be the '68 Z.

    My dad had a 1964 Ford Econoline van with a factory column shift 4 speed. A friend of mine owns it now.

    I had a '63 Econoline PU with that same "4-on-the-tree". The linkage was worn, so I had to be careful shifting to not "jam" the linkage. I believe that trans was for 6cyl Falcons (& those Econolines), because the bolt pattern didn't go to any of the V-8 bellhousings, & probably wouldn't have stood-up to any horsepower anyway.

    Back in 1984 I parted out a 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air four door sedan with power windows and power seat like mentioned in the original post in this thread. The front doors had power windows and the back doors were manual. It had a double switch on the drivers door and a single on the passenger side. If I remember correctly the seat track was only a two way, forward and back. Everything was 6 volt power.

    Friends of mine had a small salvage yard. About 20 years ago the picked up a full size 1971 Chrysler Newport Coupe that had a three speed on the tree. It may even have had a 318 motor. Probably the cheapest version of a 1971 Chrysler made.

    It was a Single Over Head Cam in-line 6 with a Rochester 4-bbl. The. They backed it up with a Saginaw 4-speed

    I had a friend in college who had 2 1965 Grand Prix Pontiacs that had 3-speed standard transmissions with Hurst shifters.

  10. How about a voltmeter instead of amp meter in a 39 deluxe guage set up. Cant be many of those. Just put these in my 39 sedan.

    Ah, back at Liar's Corner :) I may have posted this before, but in 1978-79, when I was a senior at our vocational school, we patched a few holes, and did an all over paint job on the Army recruiter from Athens, Ohio's '69 Charger. It had no options at all that we could spot, manual everything, a bench seat if I remember right, and best of all, a slant 6 under the hood. It was the first column shifted car I ever drove.

    My current shop truck, 67 c30 dually/dump, came with tinted windows, the extra padded seat and tow hooks. It also had a full face brush guard which I did not like so I torched it off and scrapped it. Later on, while looking at the original owners manual, I see a picture of this guard being a factory option. Never seen another one.

    My first car was a 1949 Ford that my grandmother bought new.. Probably dealer installed but it had a vacuum wiper on the "back" window and a fog light in the center of the grille that had a rod connected to the tie-rod that turned with the steering... Now ask me how well the rear wiper worked....

    I think I asked this somewhere else on the HAMB with no answer.
    long ago I was in an old WV junkyard and found a 65 GTO Convt with all the GTO badging, hood scoop and dash stuff, but with a 6 cyl. it all looked stock. could it be?
    and how about a 70 396 SS Chevelle with factory headlight wipers and squirters.

    Maybe squirters but no wipers...
    The squirters were standard on the 1969 Camaro RallySport....

    My first car was a 56 chevy, bel air, tudor hardtop, two tone paint, matching deluxe interior, v8 auto, factory air, ps, pb, power seat, power windows. I was 16 and had to borrow $350 from dad, that was in 1965.

    I know it was pretty S.O.B. when it was new, a little beauty queen.

    In the mid 90's I was obsessed with Packards and came across a 55 Clipper sedan with a 320-4bbl motor and 3 speed OD trans. Motor was locked up and I pulled it for a rebuild...later sold the car after it was vandalized in storage, then bought it back 15 years later when it showed up on Ebay. Got all the 3 speed stuff back but the engine was cannibalized to restore another car. If anyone has a good running Packard V8 let me know...

    One of the ones that got away was a '56 Packard 400 coupe with the factory AC and 3 speed tranny. It was a super clean estate car that still had the plastic seat covers on it. I kept track of the car for years but owner wouldn't part with it. I know they made more than a handful of the stick cars but I've only come across a couple Clippers and that one senior car over the years.

  26. The 61 Impala in my avatar was one of 7,073 4 speed full size Chevy's for 61. It also had the 350 HP 348 engine. Most of the three deuce 348's were 340 HP.

    Unfortunately it met a bridge Jan 1970.

    Maybe first year for metallic paint for Pontiac, but I'm pretty sure they had metallic paint in the '30's.

    GM came out with a dual disc clutch setup for the L-88 vettes..
    I think it was rpo code mo6...:confused:
    Not sure on that... Needs to be looked into..
