A friend just called me. He will save this coupe, if we can determine what it is, in order to find a parts car to go with it. I've looked at images, and I can't figure it out conclusively, at least so far. Thanks

Looks to be about a 36 Dodge or Plymouth coupe. Definitely Mopar.
I've been wanting a 36 Plymouth for a long time.

I see 3 door hinges on the first pic and the quarter window is different than Dodge...firewall too. Front window is rounded at bottom corners, not pointed like 36 Dodge. But, it is mopar. Plymouth?

look for numbers on the frame...here is a quote from the internets, where you might look

"Stamped on the chassis frame, right side, in behind the front wheel, usually on the top of the frame. The engine number was stamped on the frame on the driver's side, just ahead of the rear mount for the front leaf spring."

It's a 1938 Dodge coupe. (notice the 3 hinges instead of 2 on the '36).

Possibly DeSoto. Looking at pictures, the bottom, outside of the cowl has a wide lip. Not 36 Plymouth either. Maybe 37/38

This has what appears to be the same wide lip and it states it's a 37 DeSoto 12776453-1937-desoto-2-dr-coupe-std.jpg

  8. Your looking at a 37\38 mopar as stated. If it was a Dodge it would have thin holes the length of the belt line. Chrysler may have had the trim too, but I can't remember for sure.
Here is the 37 Dodge dad and I started with here it is with a Plymouth front end. 0312111624a.jpg IMG_20190627_170009.jpg

37-39 Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, and Chrysler, used the same body shell (the Chrysler may have been a little longer in the rear). Some had trim holes others did not have (I think it depended on the trim level). The front sheet metal and running boards are different for each year and each make, but could be interchanged as a unit. Gene

Thanks everyone. I don't want it, as I already have enough projects to keep me going for the rest of my years. My friend will definitely have it for sale if he buys it, so if anyone fancies it, I can put them in touch with him. He will get much more detailed pics etc, once he gets there himself. The pics were sent to him by a friend that has it, I think.
I also know where there is another Plymouth. My brother bought a 37 Plymouth coupe a couple years ago, then sold it again several months later. The gal he bought it from has another, and I "think" its a coupe also, plus a bunch of spare parts, but that was about a year ago. Her husband passed a couple years ago, and the stuff has been sitting in her garage since then. I can inquire about it if anyone is interested. Send me a PM.
