Local auto paint store here will scan a 4x4 section of your existing paint and mix you some touch up paint to match putting it in a aerosol can, if you wanted to temporarily touch up burn through primer spots. Maybe you could check your locals??? Ive done it a few times with pretty good results considering.
Stock steel 14's were available in 4.5" and 5.5" widths for the 4" bolt circle. The 5.5s were typically found on Barracudas and the like, they can be tough to find, but they are around. I have a set that I'd sell, but shipping would likely be prohibitive. More compression can be had by milling the head, they have lots of meat on 'em, .080" is easy, coupled with 2 1/4" exhaust, and a 2bbl would really wake it up. You got lucky, the headlight rings look really good, they're near impossible to find. Lose that front bumper;

What a great family experience!! Love to see the smiles. These are memories that will last you a lifetime. Congratulations!!
Took it to church today. Radiator stopped leaking, but heater started to about 150 yards from home on the way back. Sent from my LGLS992 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
She got a new pair of shoes! I ainted the wheels and got new valve stems in. Now she's rackin up the miles. Carb has been sitting since 94. I'm amazed how well it runs. Sent from my LGLS992 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Cool find. A couple of things I learned from my '74 Dart I owned and internet help--this was 15 years ago. Set the total timing to 30 degrees total. I had it set to a typical 34-36 performance timing, I set it at 30 per the slant six experts and it picked right up on the track. If it has a Holley one barrel on it (I think 1920 was the model #), it will take regular holley jets. I went up ten sizes and it dropped a full second off my time slip. I added a now long discontinued Mopar Performance header, built a 2.25" exhaust, found a stock "Super Six" two barrel aluminum intake and carb, and that with the above timing set up was all I did ultimately. I think over all it dropped a little more than 2 seconds off the time slips. It was a blast to drive, and I drove it everywhere. I really miss that car. Super dependable. Edit: it was a little tough to find being it had been so many years, but here is my documented results: https://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5929
Drove the Tiger Lily to church again today. Then went to the market. What are the odds of parking next to another 63 GT?! What are the odds that it is driven by it's original owner who has lived in your hometown since before I was born! Her name is Juanita. She had a 57 Poncho hardtop that she took to TJ to get tuck n roll installed. She crashed it Sep. 1962 and got a ride to San Bernardino Dodge and bought her GT brand new. She since shaved all the trim and emblems. I called her a hot rodder and she laughed and laughed. Sent from my LGLS992 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You've got a wife that likes old cars and is willing to wet sand?!! Hold on to her, she's a keeper. Nice looking car, she done good.
I'm already trying to figure out how to fit them both in. I should've held out for a 3 car. But a pool and a cul de sac was too tempting for her. Sent from my LGLS992 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Been almost a year of driving the wheels off it. She takes this thing everywhere. The power steering pump leaks and the carb started dripping gas. I put new motor mounts in as well. Today we argued about which car get interior first. Who is this woman??? Sent from my SM-A505U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Finally finished. New plugs and wires, too. She's back out there. The Dawn Treader still sits Sent from my SM-A505U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
In the ongoing saga of the Tigerlily, Laura decided it was time to get interior. Sent from my SM-A505U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
She said she's bringing it in next week, which meant I had to fix the little hole in the rear floor pan. So after church, I made her make her own patch at a buddy's house. And I popped it in at my best neighbor George's house. Sent from my SM-A505U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Icing on the cake for her was that I finally got her coolant leak taken care of. I wanted to paint the champion radiator black so it looked closer to stock. She said no, because she likes the bling, I guess. Don'ttell her, but I painted the tips of the fan red. So cool. Sent from my SM-A505U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Can't believe I haven't updated the thread when she got it back from the trim shop, but covid has me working 2 jobs and my soul has become dark and hateful toward our state government and their shutdowns. Sent from my SM-A505U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Wow that interior turned out great. I've got a 62 Valiant that my Dad bought new. We only got the 225 cube version of the slant here in Oz and we got 14" wheels as standard.
Just an update of the shenanigans she has been on. Grand nats, Antique Nats twice. What a good little car. Chalking up again, so I think it’s time for some Poppys Patina clear.
Just keep it waxed. If it gets real chalky, give it a Comet wash (Comet and the soft side of a sponge), then use Meguiar's #7 (can't stress this part enough) and then cover it with wax. I have to wax the panel truck every 3-4 months or it get SUPER chalky........that's the life of dead paint. Just because I have cars with old paint, I bought a orbital polisher and pads (I believe Harbor Freight has their version now). I won a waxer a few years ago at a work Xmas party and use that to take the product off the cars if needed. You can cut, polish and wax with the orbital and different pads, it super hard to screw up the paint with the foam pads.
