Those look to be Americans, for some reason the real magnesium wheels that American Wheel made were the only ones they manufactured that they did not put their name on. There is quite a bit of info on them on Roadsters.com.

Did the seller you bought them from think they were aluminum? If so, congrats on the score!

Set fire to the wheels if they burn you will know you had magnesium wheels

    Nice score!

How many more people will not read the entire post and suggest the fire test?

  14. I was going to ask @Kiwi Kev how he knew that, by shape. What the giveaway was. And I agree, Kev’s a legend

  15. Was that balsamic vinegar you used? Sorry, more years working in kitchens than playing with old cars..

Okay Chris...I'll ask. How much are you looking to get for them? I would be potentially interested.

Ok, boys the vinegar trick is the thing for non-destructive testing. First sand a small spot clean, then put a drop of white vinegar on the clean spot. High percentage of Mag will bubble quite nicely, where a low percentage of magnesium to aluminum might just make a dark spot. Aluminum will not react at all.

Wow ..glad I was only the second one to mention burning them, technically 4th , but I say definitely No to burning them now.
unless you only had one and it was broken , then burn it and post a video of it. Be Safe.

I have owned MAG wheels , I would have bet that wheel was not MAG . But I need to really see it up close to determine for sure . From what I see it looks to be the real deal

Usually the price of ,em is a dead giveaway whether they are magnesium or not!
