VINTAGE SHOTS FROM DAYS GONE BY! (Part 2)

I'll say it again. If you never experienced a Western Auto store while growing up you don't know what you're missing.

 

My Minolta SLR 35 MM camera would produce photos such as this with white spots on darker background.
That is until I discovered a pin hole in the screen which was letting in too much light.
A drop of glue on the hole fixed it and no more UFOs
Imagine that. UFOs eliminated with a drop of glue.

 

Back when flying down to Havana for the weekend was a grand event indeed!

 

The brothers Jimmy and Johnny working on Johnny's 31 Ford roadster named 'EL TORRO' 1958 1959 Victoria, B.C. Canada. Oldsmobile powered hot rod was one of many cool cars on Vancouver Island in those days. The first pic is just after Johnny finished it. The others are as it looks today. The last two were taken at Deuce Days 2016.

Most people call it a Window Sticker but it actually has a formal name . . . Monroney Label. It was was named after Almer Stillwell "Mike" Monroney, United States Senator from Oklahoma. Monroney sponsored the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958, which mandated the disclosure of equipment and pricing information on new automobiles.
