@Pacorro. KustomLand is Universal. It used to be a small area of Southern California... now it is something so much more. Welcome to the neighborhood. Looks like you accomplished much and made some great memories with your friends. Now drive the wheels off that Merc![IMG]

I hope the video is to your liking, was recorded with care and reflects the entire delivery of a group of crazy together with a common goal: to roll down the streets a merc with clese and panache

As I said at the beginning, this thread is about my love story and admiration with these merc's, especially since I had the fortune to buy a 50'club coupe.
It has been a journey full of knowledge about custom culture (I did not imagine how rich and wonderful it was).
When I found the merc I could not believe or imagine what this car represented in custom culture, and it was thanks to the friendship of @sled who accompanied me to check that it was the right car and in the right conditions (which can be expected from rust of 60 years of age?), and convinced that it was a true breakthrough we started the adventure.
@sled brought me to this great and valuable community of fools for the old irons, and since 2009 I joined to learn from real masters of steel and great connoisseurs of all the little details that matter at the end of the day.

Shit, all this time I've called the alias @sled the wrong way. I ask forgiveness friends, is my first thread after all these years and you know, when something can go wrong, it will go wrong! I make the correction please, my sensei in this custon culture madness is @Sledge. A thousand pardons friend, I hope it does not happen again.

On this road I had the privilege of meeting @ oz40, since he came to Guadalajara from faraway Australia (14,178 km) to perform his magic in a monumental project that Sledge has documented here, that you have surely seen here: MEXICAN MERC 50 ...... PIX, If you have not seen it, I recommend it.
Then, I saw the magician of oz work and not only does true magic with the metal, but he is also a great friend and we were able to enjoy a lot of tequila and talk after workshop hours.
Thanks Tom, you are an inspiration for being a human being and a genius in the restoration and reconstruction of damaged or nonexistent metal.

I received a call clarifying that Sled is correct and as I think it has been clarified to whom I refer I ask for an infinite apology for the confusion and I go ahead. Sorry fellas, I got caught up in an unfortunate confusion

Just one more post from the USA, (Western Pennsylvania)And a question and observation. I assume when you and your friends started looking for a project, you didn’t plan to find a Mercury, or a Car with such a history with
Customizers. Many say that 49-51 Merc’s are the King of Kustoms. Here on the Message board I don’t think that the statement would be disputed. The Custom Car Revival 2019 had 36 49-51 Merc’s lined up for @ photo shoot on Show Day at the Edward’s Drive-in, Indianapolis Indiana. It’s was nice to see that, I hope a couple of Magazines have coverage of the show. Now the question: How is Pacorro interpreted in English? Also think about becoming an Alliance Member, the discounts are many. Later Lou.

Mercman you are right, this car is so rare and scarce in Mexico that it has us far from knowing its importance as King of Kustom, but it does not prevent us from investigating. Motivated in the first place by what was never seen on the road, and then, already being mine obviously forced me to investigate much more. Of course, I never planned to buy a mercury 1950 coupe club, that would be like planning to buy the winning lottery ticket, but this is where the planets line up! Remember that happened in 2008 and it's been years since then.
Fortunately the history of that car is satisfactorily documented in H.A.M.B. and I am a member since 2009 following threads and forums related to this (many nights invested in this). And I do not have how to pay the wealth and generosity of the merc lovers to share their generosity in this forum.
Believe me that when I started to discover the place that this car has in history, I felt a responsibility that I could not avoid. That is why this thread starts in 2008 with your purchase.
Be patient and they will reveal all the details since then friends.
Follow this thread and I guarantee you that it will be so different from what you have seen because it comes from a place that does not appear on the map of the coustom culture.
I put to your consideration all my research and preparation with the means I have available (which are not unlimited) and ceanme that I am committed to follow the path that has been marked here. Wish me luck and enjoy this adventure that is the adventure of my life!

The water pump failed! But in spite of that it was great fun.
At the end of the day the pump was repaired and we were able to get home safe and sound

Thanks for posting, Francisco. As you have experienced, the H.A.M.B.is as much about People and the common denominator is their Cars. Enjoy life to it’s fullest, enjoy the Car culture, maybe someday we’ll cross path’s. Until then stay safe Pacorro, all the best to you, your family, and friends. Later Lou View attachment 4346282

Chevy55.jpg This is the focus of infection that infected me the love of old cars, the 55 'Chevy of my dad, many dreams deposited in that car, but they were just that, dreams; One day he came walking without it and I never saw it again, it was a nightmare. This photo is from 1977

belair thanks to you for investing time in this thread that I hope has interest for many and can see through this small window some custom that is made in Mexico, nobody believes that here there is great love for this culture, but throughout over the years I have seen some passionate people who make real beauties.
As the memories give unexpected jumps I think I'm going in 2012 I will accelerate and select only some photos of each event, because as you noticed, the new look comes very well to the merc and here is a great surprise to see it because it runs like hell without knowing how

Ford-Mercury-1950.png A sample of those who are passionate about adrenaline, my friends Enrique and his co-pilot Polo, prepared this merc 50 'to run the Great Pan American Race. This car was started from the trash because it was lying on a farm. Sled cooperated with the bones and the friends did the rest. It was a very big effort to comply with the strict specifications of the race and in the end ........
