What a thread! I went back and read it start to finish.

You are an inspiration to this old (72) slacker who finds it easy at times (now) to get my dauber in the dirt, moping around and letting little things turn in to big things.

Just came from the shop taking pics of stuff to sell. It's 99 degrees in the shop.I worked about a hour this am , told wife that I was going to be inside today. Tomorrow is another day.

Jim, Bill and Owen, you guys did a great job of pulling together and getting some assembly work done.

Jim, car is looking good and the flathead looks great. I’m glad those guys are close enough to help out, I wish I was closer than a 1000 miles away.

Keep moving forward, car is looking great.

The engagement of the cowl to the subrails. It's about 1'' from being seated on the rails . Had to share the engagement. LOL

Had to get the hammer out today. 105 heat index, 101 temp. Not much work done . Does this point get welded?

I can’t answer you about the weld but just wanted to chime in that you are doing a great job brother.

Looks like your missing part of tab. Riveted to subrail. This is on my '29 AA that I've owned for close to 50 years and know it is stock, well body wise-lol

 

I can see the place on mine where the bolt, or rivet would have passed thru.

Got the heads back from the shop after milling .050 .Looks perfect to me. Now to get them installed. Looks like a shadow on the rt side.

 

Moved the inside of the shop around .Now all is under cover. Have a bit more space to work on the 28.
Tomorrow the heads go on, as well as the cowl back on the subrails.

 

Well not the tomorrow I envisioned but progress. I have moved the 28 inside and have a better build space. Lots of work, and junk thrown away. Now to find my crank pulley.
Looks like there will be a problem with the water neck on the right side.

That generator bracket looks to be for an early generator and not the 49/53 setup

Jim,
If you run an early generator and water pumps you’ll just need to get the generator eliminator lined up.

Are you going to run a fan on the front of the eliminator?

added some other pics, and a better inst cluster pic. Who says cleaning the shop is a chore. Found the electrical temp gauge and the inst panel in a 25 or so year old box. Now I need another temp gauge and a oil press gauge. this is different from my original plan to run the 2 5/8 gauges.
I think I might be plugging the hole for the 8ba water pumps and using the early style pumps. Do you plug the hole in the top side of the block ,or just the one in the ft side of the block?

Been a busy week with a physical and wife appointments. I have freed up some time by having the ft lawn maintained by some one else. I still have the mid and back yd to do.

Here are a couple of pics that I am proud of. The sub rails and cowl are mated. Bolts in and secured. The sill plates I had to put in place because they looked so good.
Have decided to use the early pumps on the 8cm block.Still need a pipe plug for the left side of the block.
This is the pulley that came with some other junk I acquired. I think I can use it by cutting off the front part of the pulley. It is wide belt.

I know baby steps ,but it is moving fwd.

Crank pulley is all the way back now. Have to use a ziz wheel tomorrow to cut the ft pulley off.

My computer has been down for a week. I have a new to me operating system that is not user friendly.( Took me 15 min trying to get here)
