This year is going entirely too fast.

  3. The year yes, not so much for the racing though.
It looks like Bonneville has dried on the surface, at least this last week the standing water is gone.

    Oh yeah, checked in, J

Had a great time at the Speedster Reunion in Lincoln last month. Still shaking my head over the HP these guys are pulling out of Model T's.

  7. Took the Coupe back to Pendine this year. Managed a reasonable 71.7mph over the standing start half mile. Some smaller wheels would have helped as it was still pulling and I was only around 2800rpm in top. P1090597.jpeg

Checking in for the month. Picked up a little side work on a stock model T roadster. Fix some wiring and get it driving. Also have to give the owner a driving lesson. [IMG]

Can somebody please post a photo of a 28-29 firewall with a model B throttle? I’m getting ready to install mine.

    Checking in.
I picked up...purchased... a 1918 Tea Roadster with Rajo OHV. Need a road trip to go pick it up, if I can get 2 weeks in a row, I'm going to try to drive it back 1200 miles. I'm thinking I should be able to do 200 miles a day.
Also there is a Riley 2 port in the works.

    now I've checked in

  13. What is a best way to long term store engine blocks to prevent rust and critters?

  14. Good question.....I'm way past it - the fresh banger I picked up from a deceased restorer most likely has more that 20 years on an engine stand. My 1930 Cabriolet still bangs along so no need to swap it out at the moment....check check braker check....checking in........

Got a powermaster 6v alternator on yesterday and was cruising around all night. Works great with the bright halogens from classic bulb. Motor feels smoother too since the distributor and coil are getting some voltage now.

  20. Checking in from outside Nashville, Tennessee. 1931 Tudor running the Antique Engine builders touring motor. I just ordered a Mitchell overdrive last week. Also am about to order a 6V PowerGen, FSI distributor, and other odd and ends. Let me know if you have something that may help with getting all the potential power out this banger. Or any advice.[IMG][IMG]

I think that there is a 6V Powergen alternator in the classifieds
    As for power boost...higher compression...

Wind up I got that one ! I almost bought it new and said let me check the classifieds. And there it was posted a few hours earlier.

Now I have a question for everyone in here. Hopefully people start waking up this month in here hahah.

I got the hi-cr head on the car. Relived it .50”. Car starts up now. Great. But I’m back to this slow turning starting. Take the plugs out spins over fast. No problem. Compression check 90# across the board. Ran a dedicated ground to the starter off the batter post. Battery is fully charged and new. Have huge 6v wire off battery. Still the same situation. Taking the starter to a local shop who rebuilds them to see if it’s getting weak. If he does rebuild it I want him to shim the field cools closer to the armature so it will give it a little more torque.

    Here’s a video.

    JT1930,
Nope, that doesn't spin over very fast.
Was the video of it turning over with the ignition on or off?
Have you checked the voltage at the battery while turning it over?

Ignition off. But when it’s on it’s the same.

I will check voltage that next.

  25. Thanks. I talked with him yesterday. It's been sold apparently for awhile.

The motor I got from Antique Engine builders is supposed to have a higher compression head but I haven't ran the numbers.

I plan to do the typical first. Downdraft intake, Stromberg 97?, electronic ignition, etc. I drive the car a lot and could appreciate the extra boost in power to help ease the burden of modern traffic.

Every once in awhile the sun shines on a dogs ass..scored this cast iron 7 to 1 non crows foot (wedge) and an ansen 2 carb intake today..the head is nice,no cracks straight and sweet, bead blast, paint and run..the ansen is meh,but I will butter it up some..cat was running it with two tillotsons updraft,so it had a pair of adapters on it too.I was fooling with a pair of weber ICTS a few months ago, think I found my intake.Seller had a sweet 29 tudor cheap..a survivor that's been repainted, hell half of the interior was original, and the running gear was unmolested..

  29. Checking in...

Following the ‘32 pedal install with great interest!

Either the battery is on it's way out or possibly the armature is polling, another quite common thing with Model As is a bent armature shaft . That will load and unload the starter and never let it get up some momentum.
