The rts t-170 transmission is a 4 speed overdrive out of early 80’s f150.

34128E16-BB5F-4BBE-8D1A-1C94ABA2B781.jpeg I gave up finding an RTS trans and used a 3 speed all synchro mustang with a Jeep t150 shifter adapted to the torque tube ,,cheap strong and it works great,,

Will do. Like I mentioned Im still trying to gather some parts. Hopefully later this year I’ll get to start working on something. I like the idea of using the stock rear end with the stock drive shaft but I also like not breaking rear ends so we will see.

I have done the jeep t5 using kato kings kit, I have also had World class custom made T5 mainshafts made for the jeep T5. I made my own adapter based on kato kings design to fit my custom mainshaft. I am currently working on a World Class s10 4x4 based closed driveline setup. Trouble with the T5 closed drive setup is Your only option has always only been in a Non world class transmission. Both of my jeep T5 Closed driveline setups are world class and so will my S10 setup that I am working on for my 34 3 window. If you look at the 3 splined adapters you see in my pics The one on left is from kato kings and the other two I made for my 2 custom mainshafts.

  7. I looked up the part numbers you posted here or on the Ford Barn in the past and wondered how the N3-53-1181 tube shaft was connected to the original Ford driveshaft (or if a tube driveshaft was used) along with wondering what, if any, modifications had to be done to slip yoke but the thread died with no further info.

I forgot what size the tube was but the driveshaft was only 10 inches long on the race car. There was nothing exotic about the project. It was all simple machine work and welding.

This is the ultimate setup to me, will hold up to serious abuse and shifter is in the right location. @RoddyB34 do you have more pictures and info on how you did this conversion? Thanks Joe

  12. That adapter was built by Nance engineering, I have one on the shelf. The casting has bosses in it so you can either bolt up the GM TT or the Ford TT.
