This little car has lived in the spare building at work for the last year or so waiting for me to move to the new house and finally build the new shop. She came from a kind HAMBer in Cleveland, Ohio and is in pretty decent shape for a rusty old Ford.

FINALLY!! at home in the new garage. Lost the fenders along the way.

"Was a hot rod back in the day..." Someone went to the trouble of chroming the dash, installing some cool gauges and generally butchering the shit out of the poor little car.

    Cherry firewall, as usual.

Ended up not being that bad.

    Don't try this at home.

Frame is fairly straight, but has suffered some serious indignities in the past.

'48 Ford front suspension and crossmember booger welded to the '33 chassis.

Sweet engine mounts held...something.... not sure.

    More of teh same.

And, don't forget to wrap the leaf springs around a piece of all thread.

And the muffler clamp traction set-up.

And here she is safe and sound. She is going to get a big fucking Pontiac motor, TKO-600 and a quickchange. She'll be OK, I promise.

What's the plan? Black and Pontiac powered? ;)

I have never seen anyone "shorten" leaf springs with that ingenious method before. I'll have to remember that one.

PS - I blew off Photobucket long ago. No way I'm paying for their terrible image hosting. The HAMB has a great interface for photo hosting here, or if you want to make them available all over the place you might try https://postimages.org/.

I was hoping you’d keep the fenders

I think those engine mounts are SBC. You could just bolt another right in there.

I expect this shouldn’t take Jeff more than about 45 days and it will be black....with a Pontiac motor.

I’ve been waiting for this build to start... I’m along for the ride

  12. I can honestly say that I've NEVER seen leaf springs like that but any time you think you've seen it all something more googly moogly shows up.
I've never seen one worse than this thing I bought, the radius rods is one big long piece wrapped around the axle then back forward, then there's that screw to shim the shock bracket. Not even a cool body on this like your 3 winder though. Screenshot_20190701-203017_Photobucket.jpg Screenshot_20190701-203103_Photobucket.jpg

It is a pain in the ass to modify the original X member for a bunch of power and it all looked like this.

Square it on the bench and cut that shit out.

Here is the new K member tacked in. Once the new rear crossmember and engine mounts are done, it will all get boxed.

And, don't forget, the FlamedAbone Angry Inch (tm) crossmember modification.

This one is actually an inch and a quarter. You gotta get it as high as you can, but still leave space for the lower radiator hose.

Thanks, guys but I don't crank 'em out like I used to. Not much to report.

The body is back on at the moment and squared to the chassis.

    Gotta fix all this.

I am gong to drive to Photobucket and punch someone in the face.

Wheels showed up. American Rebels, made in the United States.

Screaming deal from HAMB Alliance vendors, Pete and Jakes. (and they let us hang out in their parking lot on the way to the Drags.)

Won't have much to report until after the Drags, gotta get the '40 ready to roll.

    See ya, -Abone.

I have had a paid subscription to Photobucket for many many years. I am fucking done with those assholes. I will be hosting images with the HAMB server from now on. Any missing Photobucket pictures, you should be able to click once on them and they should open.

Anyway, here is a post HAMB Drags update.

The rockers were kind of shitty.

    33rocker.jpg

I could not find any reproduction subrails in stock, so I whipped up a Flamedabone Ghetto Subrail Kit (tm).

    33rocker1.jpg

    Mounted the B-pillar.

    33rocker2.jpg

The quarters were a little crusty also.

    33quarter1.jpg

You WILL NOT BELEIVE what was in the quarters. LEAD!!! Both quarters were full of lead about five inches up. I had to use my superhuman strength to pick this heavy sumbitch up.

    33leadquarter.jpg

Here she is, all better. Quarter patch installed, wheelwell repaired, ready for final welding and sanding.

    33quarter3.jpg

    See you next time.
