Technical How about a photo of your ride and the size of your wheels & tires

I get PM's on a regular basis asking me what size the wheels & tires are on my old Deuce pickup and I realize there is no dedicated thread to help fellow members with making the decision of wheels and tires, hopefully if enough members participate we can have a definitive thread dedicated to the subject. HRP



The wheels are 5" x 15" on the front with wrapped with Coker Classic bias ply 6.60 and the rear wheels are 6" x 15" with L 78/ 15 Coker Classic bias ply tires. HRP

 

I typed it in but didn't proof read, bit me in the rear, thanks for pointing that out. HRP

 

7.50/16 on 16x4.5 and 5.00/5.25 on 16x4. Pretty standard fare for a model a coupe.

 

225/75R15's in the back; 185/75 R15's in the front with Aerostar coils.

I forgot to add, if anyone cares, stock '51 wheels in the front and an unknown set (stamped "Ford") in the back that are 1/2" wider than the fronts.

 

Up front 5:60 x15 on early Ford pick up 15x 5 1/2 truck rims plus 4 in. dropped axle
with Posie reversed eye spring #2040.
Out back 7:60x15 tires on 15 x 6 SOLIDS rims on stock rear.

1929 Model A Roadster. 1935 16x4 Ford wire wheels with 16x5 in Firestones up front and 16x7.50in Firestones in the back.

 

6.70 on 5 x 15 front,8.20 on 6 x 15 back, Pete

 

185/65R15 on 15x5 AR tto's front and 235/75R15 on 15 x7 tto's on the rear.

 

6:00 x 16" on the front 7:50 x 16" rear all Firestone bias ply.


5:50 x 16" on the front 7:50 x 16" rear all Firestone bias ply.

 

So in late 1959,my tires were what I thought look good from the used pile behind the local tire store.
Fronts on my hot rod were 15 rim with tire off VW,and rear was a pair of General Dual 90s about 725x15s,fattist biggie in the pile{ Always thought it very funny[ twin tread with twice the traction!] had big grove around center of the two tread patterns on one tire,LOL.
Still run about same sizes hight and wide today on same rod,but radials now,,and when I got my sexy Slot alum rims in a trade,the fronts are now 14x5 and rear 15 x 9 rims.
No you can't tell ,as I go by if I have byplys crap or radials,but I can feel better ride.

I was lucky back in those days as we lived about 3 miles from a tony lakeshore town. It was so upscale that it had a foreigh car dealer since about 1956. I got friendly with the mechanics and parts guy, and I was always the first in line for Volkswagen and other assorted used foreign car tires. It's amazing what "rich people" would discard.

 

215/75/15 on 15 x 6 wheels

 

Gfgg5:50 / 7:50x 17 Excelciors on '34 wires.

 

600 x 16 up front on 4 inch wide wheels with 700 x 16 in the rear on 5 inch wide wheels

 

Fronts P215/70R15, Rears P235/70R15.

 

255/70 -15 rear 165/80 -15 front 15x8 rear wheel 15x4 front wheel

 

15x5 and 15x7 with 7.10-15s and L78-15s

 

Front
145 SR 15 on 3&1/2" wheel.
Rear
12.00/30.00/15 on 10" wheel

215-60 -15 front, 255 - 60-15 rear, 6" or 8" wheels, can't remember right now.
Next set of tire will probably be 225-60-15 front and 275-60-15 rear on some kind of 5 spoke wheel, hopefully Torq Thrusts.

7.00x18 on the rear and 4.50/4.75x16 on the front

8.20x18 on the rear and 5.0x16 on the front.

 

195/65 front on 15x6 235/75 rear on 15x7

 

235/70R15 all the way around...

 

Front wheels are 15"x5" with 165/80R15 Nexen tires.
Rear wheels are 15"x8" with 265/75R15 Nexen tires.

 

You axed for it,,,215 70 15 on 15x6 front and 235 75 15 on 15x7 rear on the Chevy,,,, 195 70 15 (used to be 165 80 15) on 15x6 front and 235 75 15 on 15x7 rear on the "OLD" Ford......Mitch
