Started on another project for a customer, been in contact with him for a while about building a frame for him, then it turned into a rolling chassis now im mounting the body motor and other stuff.

So plans were for a 32 frame, a while back a buddy built a frame for another friends car, we bounced ideas back and forth and came up with narrowing the frame 3/4 of and inch per side, i really hated the look of a pinched frame so this way it looks stock but fits the width of the model A body, that one turned out really nice so i went with the same basic specs on this build, so we started with a set of Jw rod garage rails, bolted them in the frame jig 3/4 of an inch narrower per side and then made a front crossmember out of square tubing with the bottom cut out, nice and flat so itll be low, then added a set of chassis enginnering x member legs and rouned up the rear with a flatened out 35-40 member, that all went together really nice, also we step boxed the front.

then we went to the front end, we rounded up a dropped A axle, 40 ford bones and spindles and brake drums, a posies reversed eye low front spring and bolted all the together.

the rear consists of a late 50s frod 9" truck rear end with the speedway rear spring hanger kit and then we will be building a ladder bar set up from scratch.

the motor is a dodge red ram with a weiand 4x2 intake and 97s, he got it with a T bucket project and resold it with a sbc instead of the hemi so that made its way to this project.

The body needs some lovin but over all isnt to bad, it had been chopped 4" but kinda poorly so we are probably going to rechop it another inch.

the motor has a few billet peices and a th350 and will be getting a vega box so it isnt going to be a period perfect car but itll be neat. im kinda a purist when it comes to that but he wants to drive the crap out of it and the vega box just works so nice.

I've seen the step-box boxing method in the SoCal Speed Shop ads, but is it easier? Faster? ...than the conventional boxing method?

    Thanks,

Just found this thread. Surprised at the original's lack of response. I'm subscribed and looking forward to your next update.

  18. The step boxing is for appearance, looks more like a hot rod frame instead of a street rod frame.
Time wise it didn't seem to take anymore or less to cut out and inset the boxing plates.
