upload_2019-3-12_4-45-37.png Our backyard garage, during its life as a recreation, Rumpus Room...look through the rose trellis.

    Hello,

This old 1959 photo of our converted recreation (Rumpus Room) shows the pre stage. The newly converted opening garage door was made by my brother and me when we needed more space to build our 1940 Willys coupe. We took apart, the standard windows and entry doors to install a garage door. During the time we used it for building our Willys, it had a wood finish with a coat of clear varnish. Later, after we were finished with the drag race scene, it was painted with an outdoor white paint.

But, my brother, in mid 1960, had this great idea of taking a photo of the Willys coupe in front of our backyard garage door (closed) showing the Howard Cam Sticker/Logo.

He told me that if the Howard Cam people saw us at the drags doing well, they could give us sponsorship support. The support would happen because, we had plenty of Howard Cam products, including the new 8 cycle blower cam and kit for our 671 SBC and an advertisement photo would do wonders.

We even went as far as a poster board cut out of the gears ready to paint on the wooden garage door. I was going to make the signature, black, Howards Cams Logo on the Auto shop overhead projector. That would also win points with the “gear head” instructor. The projector was the only way to make an accurate, giant, sticker logo for that wooden garage door.

The circle was the start of a Howard Cam decal. This was because my brother had purchased a bunch of Howard Cam stuff. We had a Howard blower ground, 8 cycle cam and lifters, an aluminum flywheel, SBC to LaSalle adapter, and two stickers on the rear windows of the Willys. We almost got a Howard Chain Drive Cover unit for the 671, but already had a new Isky Gilmer Belt Drive set up sitting in a garage in Los Angeles, waiting for us to go pick it up.

The sponsorship would have certainly helped in our next stage of the build and racing: 2 port Hilborn injectors, B&M stick hydro, big/little Halibrands, and bigger M&H slicks.

I think really nice for the local Police to save me a parking spot at all the events Ha Ha and they make cool garage art!

Screw the padlock I would lose the key.I have a Lilly And a Daisy. They are my rescue pit bulls that were abused. So they have a very nasty disposition towards strange men.Women and children are ok with them it's just strange men that they have a problem with.

The thermometer is the only artifact I know left from my Dads shop, "Snuffys" before it closed in 1964. I cherish it dearly. My shops a dump but there is some cool stuff on the walls. Remnants of a misspent youth!

I hang this above my shop door when I don't have it at car shows. It came from the BEELINE DRAGWAY IMG_20170506_213421470.jpg in Arizona. 1970's.

Roger that, I have since added a High Voltage date test tag on the door. One window got smashed by a "Red Stripe" beer bottle, the others have expanded metal or window bars as seen everywhere in So. Cal. Same with the house.
