Event Coverage Official 2019 46th Annual MSRA Back To The 50's Weekend June 21 - 23

  1. Did some digging and figgered out my last time up there was in 2014. I always stay with friends or family and been in a daily driver. Parking was never an issue. This year, my go to lot off Larpenter on the North end was effectively closed from 10am on. Even when there was 100-200 empty spaces they were sending folks down Snelling into even more traffic. I blame this on the cops and not the MSRA folks. They were even turning street bikes away when there was room to fit a couple hundred or more at the North End. Got to see Titus and Jen. Intro'ed the new girlfriend to car shows. She had a blast. Wants me to get the GMC on the road so we can play. Titus and crew have the right idea in the Robin lot, LOTS of room, just bring your own shade. Great showing of cars as always. I hit my first one in 1995. Even taking 5 days off there was not enough time to do everything we wanted to do in the Twin Cities, cars, breweries, food music etc.....

Honestly, There doesn't seem to be room for one more car at that show. I think it needs to be limited to pre 1960, or require registrants to be a MSRA members. Something's got to give. It's so crowded that it is becoming a problem. Don't get me wrong I love it but it's almost impossible to find a parking place for a registered car.
Btw, Why was that 1987 Thunderbird with the 50 Ford headlights and grille?
Why on Earth is he allowed to be there without a car?

  3. Those fake shoebox fords have been sneaking in for 25 years. There will always be a few WTF? cars. As for no room? The lot Titus and folks set up in had room for a good 500+ cars. You could have had an autocross there!

Drove my 40 1600 miles round trip and walked 11 miles while there. Great show, but would be even better with no spectators. I am 74 and still able to walk that and so were the others with me in my age group. However I heard a couple say that if they get to the point they can’t walk it they will be on scooters themselves. I myself have made negative comments about those on the scooters who don’t look like they need to be or are so overweight they look like they can’t walk, however age has taught me that I do not know their reason for being on that scooter. Will I stop going if I get to that point, not likely.

While I did notice an over abundance of scooters, I’ll be quite honest....they didn’t deter me one bit! I was walking around with probably the dumbest damn smile on my face the entire weekend because I was blown away at the amount of cool shit.

Admittedly, there was some very, shall we say, LESS than cool shit out there to look at but I didn’t let it bother me or slow me down and I just rolled right on by.

I will also say, I got a lot of great ideas for things I want to do to my ‘32 now. And I think I have changed my mind on color that I want to paint the car now as well.....;)

Thanks all for posting all the great pictures. I especially like the ones that can be enlarged to full size, without the annoying logos.

Here's my take from the swap meet. A nice 33/34 Ford speedometer.
