Ok.... I get a call from an old neighbor who met a lady that wanted to sell her great aunt's car. Not being a car guy, he passed it on to me not knowing anything about it.

Turns out to be a 62 Ramber American, 2 dr, 6 cyl, stick, 27k one owner miles. Always garage kept, zero rust. Had not run in 20 years.

Needless to say I bought it since it was unique with the miles and condition, plus it was dirt cheap.....

Now, what to do with it ? I'll get it running and maybe drive it for a bit..... they make a great gasser, but that's not my deal.

Tough choice, my thought is to find someone that will love it exactly as is.
I am not interested, I hate cars and love trucks, I would not change a thing on it.

The only thing that matters is if you think it's cool.

I agree that an unmolested original like that should be left in the hands of someone who appreciates it like it is---whether that's you or someone else. And, yes, it is cool as hell!

If it was mine I would clean it up and drive it. Change oil and all lubricants in trans, rear axle etc. Replace tires and shocks and just puppy around. To the grocery store, local car shows etc.
It would be a shame to butcher a car like that. If you drive it for a while you may find you come to like it, especially on depressed days. If the novelty wears off and you don't want it you can always sell it for a decent buck.

Not cool? A 63 wagon just carried a family of 5 from Pennsylvania to California, soon to return. How can you call that cute little bugger not cool.:mad::D:):):)

  10. Enjoy it while you can. What-ever modifications you may make, make them easy to change back There will be someone out there that will want a stock Rambler.

Cool, yes - as stated, get everything dialed in for regular driving and try it out for a while - then decide if it is a keeper - or not - once you change/update anything it will lose it's originality, and may loose it's potential value on open market if you decide to sell it

enjoy the unique feeling being able to drive it somewhere and unload the story on the people who like the car. I'm not a fan of stockers but that is almost to sweet to cut up or change

I'd drive it as is...I wouldn't change anything either. Drive it on local errands or to work..etc...until you find some young person who would love to have this as their first car and get their feet wet in our hobby...

  15. Time Capsule right there. Always had a soft-spot for low mileage, original cars regardless of their pedigree.

  16. By asking the question "is it cool" tells me you're not there with it.
Not my taste either, but as the saying goes "there's an ass for every seat".
Sell it to someone who will appreciate it.

That's as cool as the other side of the pillow.
That would be a sweet ride just as it is.

  20. Not all cars need to be rodded, this car would be cool as is or discretely modified with a V8 but not a full blown hot rod.

Wonder if a Jeep 4.0 would work? They based on the AMC 258 which was based on?

  21. ‘Cool’ is in the eye of the beholder- but hard not appreciate a time capsule like that- I’d drive it a bit before I made a decision to send it down the road.

Why don't I find stuff like this? That thing is way cool as it sets and being a Rambler/AMC kinda guy.... Drive it till the tires popped.

Then I would put a new set on and drive it some more.

Bigger wheels tires and maybe doctor scratch on fender, dont think 14 inch baby moons would do this one justice.....a fat tired set of 15 inch (wider in the back) salt flats or something might do the trick tho:cool:

  25. I'd make it dependable, and just use it; for everything. That's cool just the way it is.

My first car was a 63 like that, even the same color. Lots and lots of fun memories!
