You're certainly hitting the high spots along the route. Love the photos.

Living the dream vicariously through you guys. Have fun and keep the pics coming !

  5. So I see you were on Sheb Wooley Dr., the man who gave us the "Purple People Eater" song as well as the parody song "Shaky Breaky Car". Looks like the weather is cooperating and your getting some great pics. And the family looks no worse for the wear. Hope your trouble are behind you and keep 'em rollin'!

We made it to California!!! The last stretch over the Desert was a bit much... a lot of steady hill climbs was sending the temp gage up but would cool right down as soon as I would go back down the other side. Another great day of memories for my family and I for sure. Tomorrow we should hit Disneyland before lunch!!!

I’m probably late to recommend this, but it’s got a fabulous rt66 vibe and breakfasts: Emma Jean’s in Victorville.

how about this for an old fashioned fitting way to immortalize the trip. When you get home have about a hundred of the best photos printed up and put them in a photo album! that way long after whatever cloud based storage system is defunct and the thumb drive or cd can no longer be read because the operating system is obsolete, you can get your album out and re live the trip at will!!!

Made it to Oatman... it’s a small town at the bottom of a mountain. Definitely my kids favorite stop so far. Wild donkeys all over the streets and crazy treacherous roads climbing the mountains. Really, Really cool spot to see. If you inlarge the photo of my family standing behind the wagon you can see the road in the background to get an idea of the drops. I couldn’t snap a pic but on one of the cliff sides there was a 50 Ford that had crashed and left there. Made me worry about my brake lines... lol

I mean really the middle of no where? I can now say we have... “Mojave desert California” an hour before sunset.

For our trip last year I took my phone/photos and with the Walgreens app printed out almost 400 pics.Ive put them in a large album and now with the location info available I’ve begun the task of labeling each ,(things to do on a rainy or cold winter day.) ;)
Shutterfly will “compose” your trip but will put your photos on the pages randomly and not in chronological order.

Yes, we definitely are doing something like that. Maybe even some kind of framed photos of our favorites.

You need a camera/phone with a timer setting so you can get in some of the photos. :)

  24. Congratulations on a great road trip, I sure your kids will remember this their entire lives and they will be telling their kids about how much fun they had.

I am happy to hear there was only one minor problem and there was no way to prepare for what arose.

The little Rambler that could turned out to be the little Ramble that did! HRP

Thanks for sharing your journey. It was fun to ride along. We chickened out on the high road to Oatman in an OT truck camper two years ago and came up from the other side. Great adventure. Carry on.

Great photos! Looks like you are finding just the right spots.

I love random T-shirts, and it does not get more random/weird/funny that the concrete blocks over the border one. I LoLed at the pic.

Those are great pics. How did the ole Rambler itself do, other than the clutch issue? Burn any oil to speak of? Plugs burning clean? No leaks no runs no errors in the driveway?

  30. This one would make a dandy big print, IMO. Are the skies really that blue? We could use some skies like that around here at the moment. What are you shooting these pics with? I'm guessing these weren't shot with your phone, were they? o_O
