You know, that turnbuckle might have been the best idea of all. At least if the eyelet end was a close fit over the pin on the end of the Z-arm. Then hook it up with a light spring to load it toward the chassis to keep it all in place. And as an added bonus it might have looked like AM built it that way!

 

On the road again, can't wait to get on the road again....

My 58,64,all66s,68,69 Americans have drive shaft not torque tube. It may be a Classic wagon had torque tube... I'll check my Chiltons. My 69 Ambassador (390,auto) had drive shaft I'm fairly certain.

My thinking was that maybe a torque tube set-up doesn't allow as much engine movement. But I'm grabbing at straws here. The main thing is, with some help from Bozo, he's got it rolling again.

My anxiety level was way up there this morning as I sat and read of your trouble, and felt helpless from my kitchen table in NJ. I had a great aunt that had several boys....(all of em a hand full)one of em told me one time that they would all get to fighting or acting up in the back seat and she would just reach back there and start swatting while she was driving and watching the road.
He said they would always push the youngest brother up there so he would get slapped first

 

My sister had 3 boys and a 9 passenger van. She used two yard sticks taped together for the swatting procedure. I hear it was pretty effective. Lol. Randy

Glad you got it fixed and back on the road. Just becomes part of the memories and story now.

 

OK; now back to the fun...

 

I have a friend who along with his older brother were a handful (to put it politely) Once on a weekend trip to the Colorado River with a friend they were all playing grab ass in the back seat of the family station wagon when their dad finally had enough. Having been down that road before both of the sons knew what was coming and ducked just as their dad reached over his shoulder for a back had slap leaving their friend in the middle to take the full force of the blow. Of course that settled them down for a bit but before long they were back to business as usual for an 8 and 10 year old. Must have been a long 3 hour drive for their dad.

 

LOL!!! We did that with our cousin... Thankfully he doesn't remember alot of that stuff.

Ok.... we made it. Car is doing great and so is the family. From what I read... the mount was flexible for when the motor mount would break, it wouldn’t shove the arm into the clutch. Not sure if that’s correct, but sounds good to me since my motor mount was replaced. Anyway... having a blast and getting some really cool pics that I’ll post up. Thanks again for all the help guys!

Your getting close, if you want to do a side trip after Oatman you can drive to Lake Havasu and check out the London Bridge
