Made some progress this last week, made a new steering column and mounts for that, got all brakes and wheels mounted and started mocking up how I want the taillights, finally drilled the holes for body mounts on frame and got some other odds and ends tied up. Neat build and neat ideas.. Sad to hear about the break in, happened to me a few times a bit of networking secured the return of most of my stuff though, never underestimate the threat of serious violence I nailed together the platform for a wee 27 for a buddy last year, not unlike your build but using a T5 which I probably over complicated a wee bit but the idea was to tie stuff together without it looking bitsa ( bitsa this and bitsa that) 2nd pic was Pendine 2018.
Yeah, my stuff was sadly lost forever. Out here the is no real chance of finding stuff like that, was different when I lived in a more populated area. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Got the steering column finished, mounted head and taillights, got the rear axle and driveshaft assembled with speedometer drive and restored the f-1 steering box. Got all the stuff to finish the emergency brake so that is next, pretty soon the car will steer and stop, just gotta make it run. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That was my plan to begin with actually, but once I got them on there it just made sense. If they start bugging me I will just cut them down later. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Oh man your abilities are so much better than mine! You have a really amazing rod in the works there.
Sorry for not posting for a while, I have a bunch of photos of stuff I’ve done but lately I’ve been crunching real hard to get this drivable for the summer. Last few days have been all adjusting stuff to make it ride better. Skickat från min iPhone med H.A.M.B.
Drove it all weekend, just gotta put a trunk lid and an exhaust on it and it’s done. Skickat från min iPhone med H.A.M.B.
hey Emil Great car you're building. I'm not so much the T-guy but yours looks really good. Also i do like the tail lights what thickness of ply wood did you use for the floors? thanks Jan
Thanx man! I used 15mm which is a hair less than 5/8. I build my seat out of that too. Skickat från min iPhone med H.A.M.B.
Very nice, gave me inspiration for a 27 roadster body I have Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I’ve had some bad luck with gauges, so I’m thinking about making a new dashboard with an all new Stewart warner set up in it. Speedo and temp didn’t work to begin with and now the oil pressure gauge quit on me too.. Skickat från min iPhone med H.A.M.B.
Had a super rainy and muddy drag race yesterday, after having trouble with the condenser I managed to run a couple of lengths. Had a great day despite have issues on my way back home too. Now to fix all the little stuff that I noticed while racing. Skickat från min iPhone med H.A.M.B.
Problems fixed, new condenser and new coil did the job. Had some weird issues with a cheaper coil I bought that didn’t work with resistance and when I ran it without resistance it popped the condenser when I revved it. Now it’s all taken care of and just need to go over everything and see so nothing came loose before next weekends show. Skickat från min iPhone med H.A.M.B.
So I had to re-do my caster on this car early this winter. Forgot to post it then but found the pictures on my phone just now. I drove the absolute piss out of it the first year and a half after it got finished, racking up over 2000 Swedish miles in that time. Had a little bit of vibration in the front tho so decided to correct that before I got my 1935 five window ford home (There is a thread on that in the traditional customs section) Put some braces in so it wouldn’t warp when I cut out the old front crossmember. Put the new angle into it and also measured the distance between the spring bolts and the radiator so I could lower the car and minimize the room between there. Here’s the difference between the old and new. Better view of the caster angle Made a notch in the frame and boxed that up too, so the spring won’t hit it when I drive over bumps at high speeds. A nice picture of work in progress. Now I can’t wait to get it home but need to finish up some stuff on my 35 before I can fit it into my garage again. A two car garage with a full workshop of tools and shit makes little room for the cars. Skickat från min iPhone med H.A.M.B.
A quick google made out that 2000 Swedish miles is about 12 500 American miles to whomever was wondering. Skickat från min iPhone med H.A.M.B.
