Again. If it’s pre-65, nothing is off limits.

  2. Awesome idea Ryan! There are many times when I deliver a vehicle to a member, they also are into restoring older tractors, campers, etc. I love it all & enjoy seeing as much of it as possible!

Well, I had a set of blue sparkle Slingerlands back in the day. It doesn't seem that the mid-60's was all that long ago, and are they (Slingerland) even still around?

BTW, I hope they keep this forum going. Amazing some of the stuff posted so far...

Ancient Iron : I believe the Slingerland brand is in the wind. I got my set new when I was 10. Learned on em , and played them hard throughout the 70’s. Great sounding drums. These days , I switch off between a white pearl 1954 Leedy/Ludwig kit and a (ot)1990 Fibes (Austin)white pearl jasper kit.

Great idea! For some reason every time I sit down at the table I think of the 50s and 60s era. I think my wife might have something to do with that. LOL

I'm young, but given the choice between buying something new, or buying a 70+ year old equivelent and fixing it up enough to see regular use, I'd much rather go the later route.

For me it's more than just "shaby sheq" or "vintage" or any of the other trends that I try to ignore, it's about trusting in something that you know can work and last.... because it HAS. It's also about remembering and respecting those who paved the way for us.

Both of those points are exactly why I enjoy classics, so IMO this thread fits in perfectly.

Now can we please SEE some a this righteous STUFF?

  17. {April 30, 2018} So I'm guessing it's working out okay.:) Lol I didn't realize that I had so much old crap until you started this forum. I never considered myself a collector. I just thought I wasn't very good at parting with my stuff. { A photo the day I started collecting. } 383.jpg I do LOVE everything from the 50's and 60's !!! So thanks Ryan........:)

Seems like there are some posts that don’t actually belong in the “Antiquated” section. Moving them might sharpen the “Antiquated “ intended focus, a bit!
