Hot Rods This Chevy 348 worth salvaging?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by MattLF9, Jun 8, 2019.

  1. I picked up a good 348 at an auction a few years ago. I was at a swap a few weeks after that, a couple of friends of mine were selling 348/409 stuff, I overheard the "expert" Tell his buddy, the "X on the front of the block means super duper high performance something special" I went home to look at the block i had, it had the x. It did! When i researched it, all it meant (for the most part) is truck motor. Mine ended up as 1965 truck motor. I had it hot tanked, checked, for cracks. Turns out good, looks even better all painted with a factory 2x4 intake & afb carbs on it. Looks like the real deal, but only the "experts" know, i guess

The guy that owns the place said that there are no Hemi cars out there when I asked him.
There are a load of 1950's Dodge cars out there and maybe he thought I was talking about the 426 Hemi?

Possibly, but I would like to find a couple of Poly's also. I got a couple of friends with Plymouth cars wanting to convert their flatheads to either a 241 Poly, 259 Poly, or a 270 Poly.... They asked me to search for them. What the heck, I would like a tiny V8 too!!! Especially if they have a manual transmission behind them. Dodges had more of them vs. the Plymouth.

Here is where the secret honey hole is:
    Bueckers Recycling Services Inc
    30838 Co Rd 157, Melrose, MN 56352
    (320) 256-3475

I'd go get that stuff but I'm too busy being poor from farming.

I think those heads came off of an old military APC, or something like that, but it had a small block Chevy in it. Along with the APC was a old tank with a Cadillac motor. These vehicles were out on a target range at FLW, MO. this was back many years and the "BLANK CHECK" was said to grab my attention, but I did make a few bucks on it.

  10. Ugh, why do people pile cars on top of other cars when there's plenty of open field there?

The old APC's had a special SBC in them. I heard that they were very desirable...

Really? My Sargent, from when I served in the Blackhorse, told me that the engines we're special and to look for one. I never seen what he was talking about. If he was crazy about a 307, then that cracks me up...

  15. Had two 114s in the museum, the engines were283/4v mated to four speed hydromatics. They were snappy little rigs from the mid to late 60s.

I'm guessing they ran out of room because behind that it's low and has standing water.
And they have been battling the worthless MN DNR over it.
DNR= Do Nothing Right, Department Of Natural Revenue, Damn Near Retarded.
