Stopped at a sale this morning and after looking at the baby clothes and kids toys asked the seller if they had any old car stuff. She thought for a moment then said there was some junk in a back shed but she didn't think anyone would want it. I helped dispose of the "junk"
Okay now I am super jealous of you. Nice score. I did that a garage sale twice and came away on the good side.
Lol . My wife's cousin was divorcing his ex and she decided to have a yard sale ,including his stuff. Sold two Muncie 22 's for a $100.00 a piece.
Woman my wife bowls with told her she found someone to clean out her deceased husband's garage of all the junk car parts he had accumulated, and she only paid him $100 for the job! Tell your wife the truth of what you have and the value of them.
I meet a guy at a swapmeet with a truck full of oval track parts. Some still in the Speedway boxes. I asked if he was giving up on racing he said "No." Someone put the stuff out on the citywide free clean-up day! I think people often move into a house where the stuff gets left behind and they don't want it or understand it has value. The office people at work often ask me "Why do you always have those rusty old car parts?" They look at me in disbelief when I tell them to sell. I then get asked, "Really that old junk is worth money?"
Several years ago, I decided to start Saturday with a couple of gar(b)age sales. First stop netted three or four boxes of vintage hot rod and customs magazines and annuals - free! Second stop got me a complete Porta Power set in the original box and a CP pneumatic body hammer withthree or four anvils for body and fender repairs. Had to pay for the last two but they were very reasonable.
So I bought a rock bar, a crow bar, and 4 old folding chairs after stopping at several dozen yard sales yesterday. You win!
I bought my 28’ after stopping at a garage sale a couple farms away from my place. I bought a few parts from the older gentleman and started talking cars and he had the A back in the barn. Been there 20 years and I had no idea it was there. So it pays to stop at sales.
