Received this update this evening, the seats are now complete and all on schedule for collection on Tuesday. I’m absolutely chuffed to bits with the quality of Chris’ work, he has really transformed the look of the seats.

 

Damn, he’s good!! What’s next for the coupe?

 

It’s got bucket seats like mine by the guy who owns it wants to change to a bench seat

 

I have gotten a few comments about my Tupperware seats! Problem is they fit well and are fairly comfortable! Now that I have retired, the budget looms over my build! Time will tell, but they might stay???

 

I’ve just re-read this and must’ve had a senior moment, I thought you were asking about the 3 window Coup that was also in the trim shop! I’m on my way to pick up the Coup as I type this as it’s all completed now and the work is outstanding. I don’t have photos of the completed interior but will take some when I get it home.
In answer to your original query, and in no particular order, replace the steering box, fit new water pump, I’ve got a few more finned dress up goodies for the engine and a black MSD distributor cap, I’m thinking of painting between the fins body colour, sort out the rear ride height probably get some softer springs and lower it a little more, give it a good clean and polish (in preparation for the big day!). Next year I hope to sort out a few little issues with the body, fit a chopped front splash apron and maybe a louver’d hood top. I think that should keep me busy for a while, oh and drive the nuts off it

 

No doubt, your plate is full! I hope to get to mine sometime! Do you know what weight springs are on the rear? I was told to weigh the rear half of the car completed, divide by 2 , and that should be the spring weight, assuming you have coil over shocks!

 

When you weigh the back end of the car, don't forget to weigh the rear end assembly and subtract that from the total weight. You only want the "sprung " weight for your spring specs.

 

Yes coilovers, I’ve got 300lb springs at the moment but they are way too stiff. My last coup had 200’s on it and the ride was much better. I’m going to try that rating and see how it goes.

 

No fizzie drinks in there!! Looks awesome!! And what Weedburner says, brakes, wheels too! Question how are your e- brake cables routed? My handbrake is between the seats which is about 12” in front of my rear brake drums, making routing an issue! Any ideas!

 

The Borgeson steering box is now fitted and boy, what a difference that has made. It’s a quality piece of kit and well worth the money. Very positive, no play and much improved turning circle, has made all the difference to the drive.
Sorry can’t help with the e-brake, hope you come up with a solution

Well finally getting to work on the coupe. Putting in parking brake system(live on a hill). Not very organized, but I don’t care!! Great to be back at it!! I turned 70 yesterday, doesn’t feel any different than 65, so far!!! Time for some me time!!

The wedding is finally here, this is our home for the week of the wedding preparation a beautiful thatched farm house built in 1900. I had a bit of a scare on the drive here, just over 100 miles, started to get a lot of noise from the front wheels. Fortunately an old friend of mine who is one of the top drag car builders in the U.K. has his workshop near where we are staying and he managed to sort it out. Turned out the outer bearings were almost completely shot, could’ve been very nasty. It was great catching up with him and checking out all the projects he had on the go in his workshop

 

Sounds like you are having quite an adventure! Enjoy your daughter’s big day! Take lots of pictures, memories fade but pictures do not! Glad your issue with the coup is resolved! Were the bearings lubed, lots of guys forget to pack them after a long build!! I am trying to decide what parts I am going to need to hook up the radiator and also install the parking brake! Wish me luck!! Post some pics of the big day, don’t forget to include the coup!! Congratulations to you and your family!!

 

Anybody have any idea what p/n hose I can use in my coupe? It’s 1.75 ID.

 

I HAVE USED 1955,56,57 CHEVY

 

Purchased a lower hose, tried it but since I joggled the Hurst style mount, it would not clear. Remembered the long style pump, perfect, only problem was all the extra bosses for accessories. Plan B , bid on a used set of Moroso water pump spacers. I can machine the down to any size I need. I will make a spacer for the lower pulley, plus the fan will be closer to the radiator. Might actually work. Generator mount is adjustable also. Installed the upper hose using a swivel 45 degree thermostat housing, worked great. Also started to install the throttle and mechanical linkage.

 

Thanks for the help, used hoses from a 57 Chevy. Lower worked great, cleared the mount and fit perfect. Next the throttle and linkage. Just got a Fast Shaft driveshaft 33.5 ", need to fit it in this weekend.

 

What top hose did you use? having a hard time finding one that will work...

 

Is that a Lokar emergency brake set up?

 

Top 57 Chevy v8 hose reversed direction. Had to use a 45 degree swivel neck water outlet to make everything line up!
