Nice work adapting the e-brake cable socket. I usually add a 1/2" tube similar to the one on Lockheed backing plates. FYI '56 rear plates have the cable provision. Sent from my Nexus 5X using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
If anyone wants a template of the cutout or part # of the backing plate, PM me. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Rich B. Thanks for that, and for the heads up on Gotham. I just lucked into these backing plates but am on the lookout for the 53-6 F-250 ones. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Main difference F-250 are 12" while F-100 are 11"; but there are also differences in adaptability to early Fords.
As Rich says, size of drum. Buick finned drums are 12" and they convert to the F-2 / F-250 backing plates, on front or rear. Stay with the F-250 backing plates for the rear as they have emergency brake provision, the F-2 does not. My F-2 backing plates were free, so it was worth adapting E/brake hardware to them.
Less and less original paint, but I should be able to save 50%+.. Maybe I'll change the thread name to "Patchwork Paint Coupe", we'll see. Hope to be in primer by months end.
I didn’t want to modify a pristine 34 spoon pedal so I cut up a 36 accelerator linkage to narrow it and change the inner arm angle, and inverted it to clear the vacuum advance pot and give more movement range. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
