Thanks Fellas...It from the get go had potential and still does...and this gives another perspective...Still a lot of work and I'm sure @flynstone will get it in place...If it was mine I'd do it...The back window is 50 ford... It really would make sense to get another roof or at a minimum some select pieces...

need to find out what condition things are under all of the bondo to start with a good platform - need some good metal shaping skills to make it look like the custom that it should be

You gotta start somewhere...I'm interested to hear @flynstone's plans going forward...and perhaps a bit more on the timeline of this build...buying someone else's vision presents challenges just like all the other methods of getting wheels to pavement...

Theres a lot of Hotrods and Customs that have major blindspot issues...that would be one that meets that criteria for sure...I wonder if it actually was a vintage auto window?

That's one universal similarity in Hotrod/Custom is the use of mismatched parts from all makes which is a form of Jalopyization.

If you got it for the price of the running gear you should be good, then the rest is a bonus. :)

  8. Here's an idea... Your headlights would work well as is, also.

BTW, Stogy,s nailed it but that Carson top is killer too.

Tons of potential either way you go. Glad it's getting saved.

I’ll go against the grain here, like the roof chop, not the Carson on this one. But Stogy’s rear window change nails it. I’d lose the quads up front, never have liked the quad look.

I like the fleetline roof idea with maybe not quite as hard of a chop. About two inches less chop on that roof would have left a lot better lines in the whole look and maybe not have such a bad hump at the back of the roof that I always seem to see on sedan roofs that were chopped without a lot of thought being put into it.
I really dig the Cason top look too though.
Keep us posted and let us know how this beauty treatment on Sisty Ugly Comes out. The potential is there.

That last car is at a level, like several that have been being built lately along those lines, that has surpassed what is normally looked at as a Kustom to a class of Kustom that is best looked at as Art.
Art Deco period design with sculptured flowing lines depicting movement while being at rest...very nice.

    First, Congratulations!

    I love the fadeaways.

James D (at my request) did this Photoshop, pulling the rear of the top forward.
    He also slanted the B-Pillar.

Squablow contributed this rendering (below), retaining the straight B-pillars.

...Kinda Sorta...I took out the center support bars in between and added an extra bar in the bottom opening...Due to Canted Quads the grille would no doubt require possible narrowing as well...
Several Front bumper bolts shaved...top Bumper trimmed for grille drop and Bumper moved closer to body...

Grille inspiration was here...sold some time ago...

I think the olds grille looks great on there, works well with the canted quads.

I give you all credit for your efforts on this visual angle...I feel this view creates a more difficult Artistic exercise in splicing together a positive result...it really physically warrants a second top to repair errors committed thru lack of understanding in lowering the lid so to speak...

Walking a mile in someone's shoes comes to mind...physically and artistically.

There is in my opinion a point where excessive mods yield a negative outcome as mentioned many times here...doesn't mean there isn't hope however...;)

OahuEli did this good looking sedanette conversion (w/Chevy grille).
This one looks great, if you can score a top.

I asked once already but can anyone shed light on what this Poor Thang actually started out as? Coupe, 2dr Sedan 4dr or a Fleetline...
