Getting the same answer every time now. " It is getting closer to the machine"

He talks about having new ones cast, but can't seam to finish what he has already started.

    I'm getting closer to F it .

"Bill Lattin the SCTA President made a trip to El Mirage today. Due to the unsafe conditions from the stress cracks on the lakebed, the June Meet has been Officially Cancelled. There is no return road and the stress cracks between the course and return road are severe and unfilled."

    Hi folks,
Looking for some opinions on banger running rough...
It’s a ‘29 motor with a police head, otherwise stock for the moment.
Last Sunday I drove to a swap meet about 65 miles each way. The car ran perfect 50-55 mph the whole way. It sat for about 2 hours and ran perfect MOST of the way home. With about 10 miles to go I stopped for gas and a drink so it sat for 15 minutes-ish. The rest of the way home it ran very poorly - lack of power, struggling up hill, poor responsiveness. No back fires.

    Conditions and thoughts:
-On the way 55 to 65 degrees
-On the way back 70 to 80 degrees
-Engine temp idling in the driveway upon return (infrared) 180 average
-No improvement adjusting timing on column
    -Head nut torque good
    -Plugs look perfect
-Loosened gas cap in case of a venting issue
-Vapor lock? Fuel line was cool. Maybe carb bowl but why did it run so well before?
    -Bad gas? Doubtful

    Any thoughts?

Yep possibly bad fuel, at the fuel stop , maybe even diesel by mistake?
Seized valve or valves ( in guide) , as it cooled?
    Head gasket blown between cylinders
burned points, maybe if you left the ignition on by mistake? and/or and condensor?
flooding....fuel intake needle and seat hanging up or sunk float . Can happen after fuel is run low.

The hot rod dirt drags are in full swing. Many more bangers here than I have seen in the past. I haven’t taken many pictures because I am having so much fun! Here is a couple.

  15. Found in a UN-disclosed location yesterday, set of Titanium Cunningham rods for a "B" motor.
Need to verify CL dist, but looks on yard stick to be 7-9/16" (Pontiac length) with Chevy small end.
Somebody needs these, seriously light and strong. Unused set, never had bearings in them.

  16. What were they asking for C crank?

You have perked my interest. Are the big ends wide journals like Ford, or narrow like Pontiac? Are they split at 90°, or are they canted ?

I run a B carb and intake on my stock 1930 Tudor. There was a noticeable increase in acceleration, but it certainly didn't blind me.
It does give me the confidence to out drive the brakes

Typical Cunningham split is canted 40-45 degrees
Yes wide journal for B/C crank
Small end is .927 Chevy pin
Bearings are available but will require narrowing

    This just posted on Facebook:
Here is a picture of the new Model A block outside assembly. I hope to be pouring an iron and aluminum sample soon. These first 2 will have the modeled 2nd and 4th mains instead of the filed in version that is ready to get machined. They will be made in 3 main style, of course. Momentum.

    Hi guys,

Bit of a question on valve port flow. I've had a search on here and found a lot of information on flat head v8s but wondered if anyone on here has played with increasing the flow of a flat head 4 banger ( without going to and OHV conversion).
    - Tiding up the intake runners and valve guide bosses
    - Possibly re-leaving the block?
I'm sure the basic principles are the same but was interested to hear from someones experience.

    cheers Craig

  27. I don't have NOS, but was curious on what people were getting for a C crank. Was wondering how it compared to adding weights to a B crank.

A good weld on set of cheeks on an early b crank should give the same results as a C

Do you or anyone else have any flow results on a model a/b block?
