Don’t pick one just to be different, cause somebody’s done it before.
    You got to feel it!

  10. Root, take a look at this old thread, granted it was 52-54 but they would work on a '55. HRP

  11. 54 Chevy grille but with at least 9 teeth, but 19 of them looks awesome, though I might be biased, lol.

With a 54 grille, the main thing is to build a support in the middle of the grill to hold it up or it will bend down over time.

Tube grille, stock ‘55 signal lights.

  14. 55 Desoto worked well with not much work. I wasn't able to find a photo of one in a 55/56 to post up. Works almost as well as the 56 Plym grill Moriarity posted.

When I opened this, I nearly clicked the tube grille option before even scrolling down. Then I saw Mark's pic. That Plymouth grille looks like it was made for it.

That 56 Plymouth grille is hard to beat and not that common.

  23. that could look good, would have to come up with some kind of ends for it. Could use the stock 55 turn signals or use like the turn signals and ends off a 54 ford grille

I looked at the 54 Pontiac but I was wondering how to tie it all together with the park lights.

  28. The Pontiac grill is just sheet metal. No different than any other custom metal work. The down side today is the cost to go through the Chrome shop. The 54 grill in my 51 was cut in half vertically on center, then each side was cut horizontally on the crest to adjust the profile and extended to get to the point where the stock 49 turn signals fit and matched the grill bar profile. No small task but looks like nothing was done. I know you can do this kind of work too. Just picture the 55 signals on the ends of this one in place of the 49's.

  29. While all those look good, they've all been done to death....

How about something different? A '51 Ford grill would continue the 'pod' theme of the turn signals, you could install driving lights in the 'pods'. Or how about some perforated metal with some chrome bullets? Easy and relatively cheap to source. As an alternative, perforated metal with some '56 DeSoto turn signals in place of the stockers would look good. Or a '58 Chevy grill/turn signals?

May I suggest a 1951 Mercury grille sans the wrap around fender chrome. Coolsville
