02E5FE22-4482-4344-863F-370273E4AEE2.jpeg before installing new bearings on 1951 F1 truck, like to confirm order and location of bearing seal? Looking at diagram, seal goes on last closest to the inside tube. Wouldn’t this stop the oil from reaching the bearings? It’s a Dana ford 44 rear end.

the bearings should be sealed and pre lubricated, so yeah, having the seal keep oil out of the bearings is part of the design.

Thanks Jim. The old bearings were 40 plus years old and old seal was no where to be seen.

The bearing does NOT get lubed from the rear-end oil...it's pre-lubed...

They are probably still in the tube. You may have to pull them out with a hook ( hook like device) and if really stuck, a hook and slide hammer.

By the way, a leaking axle tube seal can be the sign of a bad bearing.
