Worked on the car for four hours today. No pics because I spent all that time filling holes and grinding welds. I am pretty sure 80% of building a car is boring shit like that which now one wants to see pics of. Here’s a hole, here is me welding a hole, here is me grinding a hole, look ma, no hole. Anyway, still making progress. I did order my paint supplies and hope to have the body ready in a month to paint. Maybe. Hope you like neon green. ;)

Reinforcing the subrails where I had to cut them to lower the seat. I used 16 gauge sheet metal and 1x2 inch tubing.

Got the radiator back from the Brassworks. After some back and forth with Lee we decided to move the mounts up and shorten the overflow tank. He has been great to work with and he will get all my future business.

Small problem, the corners of the bottom tank didn’t clear.

Some creative cussing, followed by some 1/4” plate, lots of cutting, some welding, more cussing and lots of grinding it all fits.

All this was then followed with this:

Well it is my first hot rod build. With everything I am learning I am sure the next one will go together perfectly. (Shut up and let me dream.) :D

    Thanks,

Still plugging away at getting the metal work done. Spent a good bit of time getting the front cowl squared away. None of the holes on the original tank lined up with the Brookville body so I ended up redoing them all.

Still not done but getting closer.

Ya man, those panels are tough to get lined up. All the different angles and gaps never seem to line up right. You look like you got it though.

    Hey Aaron,

It’s still waiting it’s turn but it should be getting built soon. Dan said he would have it to me in May.

Not a whole lot of progress on the roadster this past month. Had family visiting for the past month which took up most of my free time. Mainly been tending to small things. Looks like we might have some progress on the motor here soon though.

Few pics of random stuff done.

Hoping to get it in primer in a couple of weeks.

Just got these pics from @thunderbirdesq at Kholer Kustom of him punching the louvers in my hood and sides. Veddy Cool! The cost was really reasonable too.

Started sanding and priming the body. I hate body work. Doesn't help it is 103 degs in the shade today. Got to get it done.

Very cool. After seeing your hood, I reached out to Andy to pencil me in this winter to get one made for mine as well.

    Your project is looking great!

Two suggestions...from experience building my own '29/'32 using the same seat - see link below.

One, block your car at ride angle (frame rake) before settling on the seat position. The view changes.

Two, the front of the seat bottom (lower thigh area) should be noticeably higher than the rear (butt area) for best comfort in a flat-floored car. Looks like yours is pretty much level. I added a 1 1/2" support under the front of the seat brackets to accomplish this.

Nice build! Keep up the good work.
