I'm waiting for the straight axle, and the 60's bucket seats.

  3. It amazes me. folks will cut the frame of and graft a subframe under a 1950's truck to get IFS and better drivability. and yet then folks will cut a perfectly reliable IFS from a tri five chevy and install a straight axle? There aint any weight savings. Nothing accomplished but make it handle worse. If you adjust the stock drum brake shoes just a tad loose. they have less drag and are faster that disk brakes. The roller bearing conversion is a good improvement. My 55 will retain the stock IFS and drum brakes.

  4. Awesome, love that car... congrats man.

Well while the 9.3s are on hold for a nice buildup. I dropped this Ford 9" "direct bolt in" in the old car.
Has speedway leafs in it. It sits like a 4x4.
And extended shackles the exact kind that was in the car. Same length and everything.

My old springs pretty much where horizontal but these are like 6" k10 lift springs now. Even though they are "factory replacement"

I'm gonna drill the shackles out all the way to a stock setting because I cant stand how high the ass of the car sits now... I hope they have settled down by the time I get back in townbur I doubt it. I was up north for memorial day weekend at our cabin... 20190523_162015.jpeg 20190522_233215.jpeg 20190523_170221.jpeg 20190523_181729.jpeg 20190523_190324.jpeg 20190523_190337.jpeg 20190523_231637.jpeg 20190523_231725.jpeg 20190523_231645.jpeg

That is one KILLER ride!!! I like the way you don't mess around too! Get it together and beat the hell out of it and have fun!
If you ever want to get rid of one of those Olds rear ends, I'd be more than happy to buy one from you! I have a '56 that one would look really good in.

  11. ...just a thot, in the one pic you have 6x6 wood blocks under the frame,...you mite consider turning one set 90 degrees, or both sets 45 degrees,...I use the same blocks under cars and have had one roll backwards off those blocks if the front wheels are on the floor and not blocked well, ...when workin on the car those blocks can roll back and forth,..specially torquin down rear end u-bolts, etc,...just a safety thot,..I like yer Chevy a bunch...

I think when you start that up you might blow some of the less stable metal off and actually help expedite the repair process...she really needs her eye brows done...:D

I remember as a teen an old 55 2 dr post that was in an old garage, I took several parts off...man it was tough...the left front fender had the front foot of the top fender missing and they had tin wrapped around it wired on with coat hanger...last time I looked it was still sitting and rotting in there too.

I was never was big on gold valve covers but they really pop against the engine paint and the plug wires. Lighting helps as well. We need to call you Speedy Gonzales:cool:.

Nothing like an old ball bean hammer some vise grips and a sawsalll cant cover.

Was definitely a home grown job back in the day.

I'm not huge on the gokd covers either but I think it gives it the van Nuys boulevard street sweeper look.
