Even with the belly that looks like one helluva tight fit...almost makes ya think those guys are all standing there trying to figure how to get him out. Haha

Have collected all my parts I think by this point. looking for more pics like the spasmodic car. I have a lot of work to do with proportions to make it look right. Also trying to decide what grill to use. Also trying to decide how much to narrow frame and body.

That sounds like the recipe I am following, except I am using a flathead 8. I narrowed the body 6 inches on mine. Hopefully mine has the profile of the Garrick car when done.

Here is a neat old modified. Do you know of anyone who has built a one man car for the street? Would be interesting to drive... s-l1600 (2).jpg s-l1600 (3).jpg

Reamed the axle to accept ford kingpins. Used the dodge kingpin retainer bolt instead of the ford, I milled a flat spot on the kingpin so the dodge bolt could lock the king pin in. After spindles and hubs were on I took everything to a truck alinement shop and had the axle bent to get everything where it had to be.

What spring hangers were used for the rear of the front springs when they were moved outboard and does anyone have detail of how they made the support or crossmember for the front of the dront springs. Also i think im going to narrow my frame to about 20 inches give or take. I think tbats in the ballpark. I am open to any suggestions.

I just spun my spring hangers 180° then made a spacer plates to adjust my springs parallel . I still need to add a triangular gusset.

I used quality 9/16 fine ready rod for the front spring mounts. Slid some dom between the stock hangers on the frame horns.
20 inches sounds good. I made mine 22 and I wish I went narrower.

I was going through the photos on my computer and found these I had taken back in 2007 at a car show in Fort Worth. Here are several shots showing the front spring setup on Phil Weiand's old T. Also shows a body mount bracket on the cowl. RearView.jpg FrontView.jpg AxleMount.jpg BodyMount.jpg FrameDetail.jpg RearDetail.jpg SpringMount.jpg SpringMount2.jpg

I haven't mocked any of mine up into a car-like shape yet. Still working (relative term) on patching the body. Will probably have more new sheetmetal than original by the time all the rust is gone. I'll start its own thread when I get to some actual photogenic progress.

I prefer the cut-down body on the Weiand car. I had no idea it still existed.

I am wondering if late '20s Plymouth/Dodge wavy tube axles qualify for use? They were equipped with hydraulic brakes and utilize dual leaves. Anyone ?

I have a 1930 Plymouth axle. It has about the same drop as a2.5" drop 34 ford axle is absolutely gorgeous in construction. Smooth and nicely welded.

100_0883.jpg I have one that I bought a home built trailer to get many years ago. It's still there because I got caught up in using the trailer around the place behind the tractor. But someday .........
