Event Coverage What are you doing to get ready for GLORY DAYS vintage drags at Byron Dragway?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rocketsled59, Jan 2, 2019.

  1. ..it gets cold in Byron too, minus 27 degrees last nite!!!...I'll take the heat any day, it doesn't hurt as much.

Got my confirmation, too. Have a few things to do, when it warms up. New rear springs, (5 leaf station wagon), and swapping out the old Lakewood traction bars for a set of Cal-Tracs. The GMC needs a new clutch, too.

  8. Does that hard top have the torsion bar suspension under it still? Not many altered wheelbase Mopars with the original suspension and K frame relocated like the factory cars. Both look like killer projects.

i sure hope people support this! we don't need to lose it. it takes a lot to get a good show going, so please come out and watch or race! maybe with some luck, the meltdown crew will reconsider, and team up with Byron to keep all the hard work alive!

  13. Gasser Wars Magazine will be back at the base of the tower selling subscriptions and have special cars on display as in prior years. Hope to see many familiar faces and hopefully many new ones

My 55 has been approved for the Glory Days Meet, but have not received an actual confirmation number, yet.

I did receive a confirmation number for Uncle Sam's Pie Eating Contest, though.

Also got the new pressure plate and clutch disc installed in my 59 GMC. It's ready for towing duty.

So is this basically like the "Meltdown Drags" with a different group of people running it?

I am collecting parts for my One Bad 64 Merc Marauder project. But I knew I would not be ready by July. But I plan to be there and supporting the event and looking forward to 2020! Larry

I have not really seen or heard much conversation on this event. Even the track on their web sites are not really saying much. I know the event is happening, I just hope the lack of conversation dosen't turn into a lack of interest. The old meltdown thread would be just screaming by now! lol Hope to see a bunch of you there as well as union grove and the fall out. Larry

  27. The track is doing zero to promote the event. That matters little because we know it's going on and will be there.

I don’t have anything to race, but I’m still planning to go as a spectator on Saturday.

  29. the thing is if everyone stays home to see what happens with the race this year it will be a bust. now if everyone attends like they have in past years it will be a success.

Maybe everyone is scrambling like us . Different transmission ,driveshaft and clutch in 1. Add a super charger to another
Fingers crossed the third one stays running. Then figure out how to afford to get all three there.
I sure am glad I got my kids involved and we are looking forward to it outa sight got us pumped even more [IMG]
