Didn't mean it in a negative way. The engineering back then had a lot of character and ingenuity. You could tell who's car it was by the build style. Letting it all hang out back then, you were the MAN.

    Roo -

The title is "Drag Cars in Motion".
Nothing about the year(s). There's plenty of later..."old" cars in this (and other) thread.

Mike, the original criteria for this thread has always been HAMB era (pre 1965) photos (although that has been stretched a little at times to the end of the front motor dragster era). There is another thread for current photos of era correct cars but dammed if I can find it at the moment.
Look back through any of the 1900 plus pages of DCIM and only a few recent photos have slipped through the net. As for later "old" cars in other threads I have refrained from posting some great shots because the cars have Cragar Super Trick or Centerline wheels or are obviously not HAMB era correct in other aspects. I have literally thousands of photos that I have shot at the various reunions (CHRR and NHRR) and events like the Meltdown Drags where the cars are period correct but I would never think of posting them here in the DCIM thread.

Originally the Beebe Brothers, Vinson and Sixt car (in purple paint as recreated by Robert Morris III) and then after the pictured version it got a full body and became the first Beebe and Mulligan "Fighting Irish" car. It was then purchased by Leland Kolb and ended up in Australia as the Surfers Paradise Raceway "track" car with red, white and blue paint before being sold to Jim Read who had it repainted in the Fighting Irish green. After a failed attempt to convert it to rear engine configuration by a subsequent owner it was scrapped although the front axle survived and is on the Morris recreation.

    Roo,
This is just a question and in no way an indictment of your comment earlier.
Lets take, for example, The fuel altered Pure Heaven 2 which was owned by R.T. Reed, Leon Fitzgerald, and Richard Rockman.
It was faithfully and correctly restored by Bob Nylander using the original parts which included the original iron block, iron heads, and iron crank, all verified by Leon and R.T. before his passing. It even has the tray that fits on the hat for tools and plugs (made by R.T.'s son). It did have some additional minor work at the roll cage to satisfy rules. At the CHHR 1 & 2 it used two old Centerline wheels and was driven by Rod Hynes.
Are you saying that because of the rear wheels it should not be here but in current nostalgia threads? I appreciate your time.

As I noted in my first comment the original accepted criteria for the DCIM thread was for in period photos and that has been the theme from the start some 1932 pages ago. About 8 pages into the thread Frank Kunkel posted some shots from 2007 Goodguys events and there were also some shots from the 2003 HAMB drags around that time but in the main the photos have been as vintage as the cars that they depict. There have been several instances of moderators deleting more recent photos, especially ones that have post HAMB era cars in the background and my comment that started this discussion was far from the first to point out that a car and or photo was a little too new. On that basis the fact that the first CHRR was held in 1992 would tend to disqualify any photos from those events although they would fit perfectly in the current-photos-of-modern-day-nostalgia-race-cars thread as noted by the originator :

Davis, Moody, Purcell...Joel Purcell drove it off the end at Pomona, badly injured his arm. The suspension was unique, rocker arms connected the front axle to small springs that you can barely see behind the fuel tank.

I'm with Roo on this, we have to keep these threads as the originator intended, which we have all tried to abide by. The restored and recreated cars are great, but they have their own threads.
