That appears to be a good picture of the luxurious pit layout at Fremont. Also of note during the mid-60's was the scoop arrangement that fed the side-by-side placement of the carburetors in the style made popular by the success of Mopar Super Stock layout. Mickey Thompson and other manufacturers offered a similar manifolds although the picture of the Edelbrock was easier to find. This design enjoyed a brief period of popularity but they gave way to the "tunnel ram" configuration that worked better in higher RPM ranges while requiring much more hood clearance.

Pat it was quite an accomplishment IMO. Ernie Dutre had some stiff competition in street eliminator. He beat Strickler in his A/MP Dodge in the first round, and beat Larsen in the AA/SP Cobra in a later round and beat Hoefer in his C/FX 427 Galaxie for the final.

That’s the only way a Tbird scoop would be competitive:)

A 1963 Z06 "Tanker Corvette" 1 of 63 made. The is no hard evidence that any 1963 Corvette left the factory with KOs on it. The 2 Bar Spinner was a prototype that Kelsey Hays sent to Chevrolet to evaluate. Was replaced with a 3 bar version.

According to the article they were "Tried Out" on a few cars but not used on production cars. The three bars were chosen instead.

In old pictures most of the two bars were on Z06's.

The #6 Jaguar in posts 4514 and 4515 is E2A, the second XKE prototype.

As much as I love oval track racing, that photo makes me sick. Thank God most tracks did not allow fiberglass bodies back in the day.

I don't know if any of you guys have seen this trailer but looks like there will be some cool Corvettes in this movie.
I know that we won't get to see any of them win any races though.
