School Me on Early Ford Spindles

    Ok What is up with the king pin size on these early type spindles. I have a set here that fit backing plates but the king pin is bigger than my other spindles. WHY?

    Might make trailer axle parts. You can weld on arms from spindles with badly worn bearing areas. How are the bearing areas? Worn?? If worn=junk

    check the stampings; 48 mark is 1935; 68 mark is 1936
    Yes, the 35 is longer. 1936 measures 5 and 3/4"; 1935 measures 6".

    Can someone clarify this for me. I've got some with the big square back, which are 42-48. The round backs are 37-41. The ones on the right with the small square backs are? I know someone with some of these and we thought someone had cut down some 42-48's.

    Small pattern is 28 thru 36. Thats a cross steer spindle which started in 35. So measure the snout or look for the numbers.

    In the last pic I had to remove the steering arm and flipped it loosely in front of mounting hole.
