Jim was an icon. I too remember the Delivery as a kid in the 70's. That PU is way cool too. I hope you get them both out and about so we can enjoy them in person again.
Here is a bit trivia about this truck. I was looking at the title today and noticed that Jim purchased the truck (it was just an original old truck at that time) in 1960 from his friend Lee Wells. Yes, this is the same Lee Wells that was also a custom upholsterer (Barris cars and 1956 Lincoln bubble top). Jim and Lee both graduated together from City High School in Iowa City class of 1950.
And it also should be noted what a great person Jim was! A pleasure to be around, his always ready smile.
Tom, did you used to do airbrush art at the car shows? There is a couple of airbrushed signs in the truck that I always assumed that were done by you.
WOW looking at that interior is awesome. My brothers show truck was done in Iowa by I think it was Imperial Customs, I am thinking the interior was almost identical ( floating seats and everything ), It was awesome I don't know or sure but it looks like Mr. Jim did there interior also. My brothers 1953 pick up was called ( Pick up Beach and we clowned around the shows in roaring 20s bathing suits ) It was the Emerson Brothers Pick up. Thanks for bringing up so many good memories. The time frame was about mid 60s Thanks Ron.
sweet truck, and I agree the steering wheel may be a safety hazard, but it doesn't fit the theme. A nice 40 Ford wheel might look nice. Super cool truck at any rate with a "off the hook" upholstery job.
Looks like you're going to let someone else buy the truck. What's going to fill it's place in the musea.. I mean garag.... uh, house?
