image.jpeg image.jpeg Well, It's been 7 years since my last post and my 55 went neglected and took the back burner at the shop. Other projects had higher priority and the car needed more power to be fun to drive. Finally revisited the old Chevy this past year and put in a 57 Pontiac/Olds rearend with long ladder bars, and dual four barreled 671 blown 383 smallblock vs. the little 301 that it had prior .
Now, Way more fun to blow off the Ricers from the traffic lights with the wheels in the air !

    Still doin' it ol school.

LOL.... Guess it's been a while since I logged in here! This is my car now.... I kind of abandoned my plans to turn it into a gasser for the immediate future. Once I got the wheels and tires on it, I liked the stance and look so much I just left it like this! I still have everything to gasser-ize it just waiting to get bored with this look!

Been together for almost 12 years already. One of the most dependable cars I have ever built and the 392 Chrysler Hemi is the best motor I have every had, bar none. Quick Trip 4 28 19 d.jpg

Pictures of my '55 Delray have been posted previously. I built it over 50 years ago from a East LA wrecking yard find. Dick Fletcher and Ted Brown installed the tube front axle with Willy's spindles and brakes. I ran both a 327 and 427 Chevy engine and always had a 4-speed Muncie. Olds rear axle and either 5.38 or 4.88 gears. Small block best time was 11.21 at 121 with carbs. Big block 10.80 at 129 and injectors. The best time with the small block was with a borrowed engine from Dave Christie. All steel except the hood. At the time I built the gasser I was painting cars for friends and was able to earn enough to go racing. Great to see that there is still such an interest in the '60s style of gassers, it truly was an exciting time. Good luck to all who are recreating that era of race cars. IMG_3534.jpg
