Petersbilt, it is likely your truck had a state assigned registration number. The numbers which you show do not match any known '32 Ford sequence.
European Ford Model B were also stamped with ABF-5000000 or BF-5000000 if they had the smaller engine for tax reasons. Not sure if this was for Europe only
Petersbilt,I suggest you go on www.fordbarn.com and register. Its Ryan's sister site. The 32 experts are there. From what I know your numbers mean nothing - that is from Ford.
I'm not sure if this link is current or not but I have a '32 roadster with some questions as to what in the hell it is so i'm starting with the Vin number? It is 1850055!!! It has been this number since 1949 under one ownership continuously up to today. I thought at one time i read that the third number being a 5 meant something other than the start of 50,055?? Can anyone shed some light on this?? Not a big deal as the car is really nice, but some unanswered questions! Thanks,
Jim, is there stars stamped before and after the number? Is there a - between the 8 and the 5? I know of no significance of the third digit. Some of the B models had different letter prefix that designated model or country of origin.
The 18 in that number is not part of the serial number. It is a prefix. The number 18 indicates passenger car model. Your serial number is 50,055, which is perfectly plausible, as they made 203,126. Again, this is just an engine serial number. The engines were made in one factory. They were stamped sequentially. After the engine arrived at the assembly plant, and was placed in the chassis, the number was transferred to the frame. No meaning can be derived from the number, other than what I just said.
My 32 Henry cabriolet(roadster-esk with roll up windows) with original frame reads as follows: star figure followed by F18-4xxx Star figure. Astute HAMB members assured me that F meant rt hand drive. I noticed the steel dash in the car had 2 holes on the pass side for the steering column to bolt to and there was no indication EVER of any mounting holes on the drivers side, another rt hand drive indication. I would enclose a pic of the very readable VIN except some less than honest person could take these numbers and make them useable numbers for illegal purposes.
I've always thought the "18" was a V8 powered chassis and the "B" prefix was a 4 cylinder powered chassis. Bob
Anyone know where I can get a vin tag for a 32 Deuce coupe? Just bought a new reproduction and was hoping for an Original tag for it.. Thanks
Stamped in the left frame rail, usually in three places. Also stamped in the bell housing area of the engine. Go to Vanpelts website for more info. Bill
Show us the "new" tag you bought... if your 5w body and frame are not original, you won't find it anywhere...
Right there not original I have a MSO for the car but was wondering about getting an Original number for it for titleing
