In 1973, under the original leather solo seat padding on my 1929 Harley I found a newspaper clipping on Hitler. Unfortunately over the years that has been misplaced.....

Of course I was joking about Miss Plumper!
In the 70s my wife bought a GTO cheap since the owner, this young guy, couldn't get it running. After paying for it, title in hand, we found the wiring problem, fixed it, drove it home. I look back, guy is running after us down his long dirt driveway, yelling "wait...wait". At home we discovered why, a bong shoved under the seat and bag of dope. He never did call asking for it!

I've never found anything cool in a project car, but at work I find all kinds of stuff. Just a warning... If you take your car to a body shop to have a rear bumper repaired, remove you leather bondage gear from the trunk first.

Not a H.A.M.B. friendly project car, but the ‘80 Trans Am my wife bought for $500 had no trunk key. I powered up the power trunk latch and found a unused n mint space saver tire and all of the tools including the original air charge tube (not in the pic). Now I know you are thinking Duh! Spare tires are suppose to be in the trunk but it seems they never are on the junk I buy! :) Plus a set of really nice rear taillights. The best part was that the rear window seal must be OK cause the trunk was rust free. That’s a first for me! My oldest turns 16 this year...it will be his first car: shaker scoop, 400 w/ headers turbo 350 n a posi. Lucky kid...Lol. Randy

  5. In the past I have found earrings, bullets, lots of change, religious medals. On my '59 Ford, I found a cheap ball point pen from a lumberyard. The ink was dried up, I was able to find a cartridge from a good pen and now the pen works.. and is back in the glove box.

When I was doing the junk car thing, we would cut the front bench seat on the back, right below where it folds. All sorts of things would drop out of the cut.

I found a Snap On "crescent" wrench in the chopped 49 Ford I bought in Kansas (wish I'd left the car where I found it:( and the front "half" of a Fenton split manifold for a 216/235? Stovebolt six. The wrench hangs on the wall and the Fenton was donated to my neighbor that just bought an early 55 Chevy pickup. He had a 49 pickup after he got out of the Marines that was his wife's and his daily driver back in the late 60's:) When I was a kid on the farm we had an early 55 pickup and it was the first vehicle I ever rolled, actually the only vehicle I ever rolled:) I am glad my dad loved me. I worked in an auto upholstery shop for a number of years so I found a lot of lost items when removing seats. One observation I made was that if the saying “you are what you eat” is true you should eat french fries. They look almost as good the day you remove them as the day they went in. Apples, not so good.

Opened the door to my 63 Starfire and found these little ones inside. No idea how momma got in but was quite the surprise none the less. Screenshot_20190523-094600_Chrome.jpeg

2 pair of black lace crotchless panties in the trunk of a 65 Wildcat. The guy I bought if from had inherited it from his mom, and was one of those guys who you'd think had never had any in his life. Maybe appearances can be deceiving. Or maybe they belonged to his mom.
I showed them to my ex-wife, she wasn't interested in even trying them on.

  13. Maybe you'll find a couple more coins on top of a piston.

Bought a '48 Ford coupe and in the trunk found that a 4X4 transfer case and a flathead dual point distributor (didn't spin though) was included with the purchase. On the front seat was a bottle of "Pretty Lady" eu du toilete (spelling likely wrong) with a little bit of liquid still in it. Wonder how old that was? My wife passed on trying out the fragrance.;)

Figured it was time to get the stock bench seat reupholstered in a A coupe I bought and started removing a seat cover that looked like it was from the 60s. Found this picture curled up in the springs. It looks like this car was used for a cover shot for a band 50 some years ago. Bad pic but do some of these guys look vaguely familiar or is that just the country band look they were all going for the 60s.?

  17. A Statler Brothers cover band! Lol. Guy at lower right kinda looks like Glen Campbell....

OT 280z...found an ancient enameled box under the drivers seat buzzer had some medicinal MJ....so old it turned to dust when the lid was opened.

1964 parklane found a cheap silver ladies ring, disappointed if a 1964 parklane owner couldn't date a better class of floozy, then again maybe it fell behind the seat in 1974 when the parklane was just an old car.

OT Mustang II...screw driver in rear drivers trim panel accounted for a weird rattle...and an entire Sunday edition of the Detroit Free Press ? Ads included. 1976. No wonder the back seat never fit right! After that it did.

While in Okinawa I bought a Datsun "Sunny" pick up, used. Puled seats to recover, found a stack of Japenese "Porn Cartoon" magazines.

When stripping my daughters 56 chevy truck with period westinghouse sign writing, tucked away in the rear drivers lower floor panel was a very old Westinghouse calling card and small plastic oil can and a lizard skeleton was in the remains of the glove box that is now lacquered and sat on my shelf! In my 60 Lincoln was some old paperwork and a Canadian dollar bill behind the glove box and best of all was a live bullet, dimes and cents,an old hot rod show dash plaque and 2 sachets of tomato ketchup from El Paso in my 39 Chrysler.

  21. I found this poster , a G.I. bayonet, pipe etc. in my 56 Chevy when I bought it in 1977.
I still have the poster and wish I had the bayonet. Some guys I worked with years ago attended this concert, and one knew the artist ( Durwood Settles) .

  22. In my o.t. car I got from the desert area east of San Diego I took the rear seat out and found some stuff that made me wonder what the previous owner of the car was up to. The was a TON of change/coinage with three, stocking masks that you would put over your head and face to rob a store or bank. It was probably a great getaway car as it was a '68 Road Runner.

I've still got the 20 ft log chain that was in the trunk of a 65 Cad parts car that I bought for 50.00 back in the early 80's. The fronts seats from those fit perfect in 51 Mercs.
Back in the 70's when I worked in a Pontiac dealeship in Texas one of my buddies in dealer prep who was also the new car rattle fixer tore a car half apart one day to hunt a rattle next to the back seat and there was a empty coke bottle in it with a note in it that said "Found it didn't you you sob." a few months later he had one for a rattle in the passenger door, popped the door card and inside was a nearly new 1/2 impact wrench that went straight in his tool box. He checked the rest of the inside of the door, put the door panel back on and put a note on the ticket that said source of rattle found and repaired.
I found more change in one car that I bought in the 70's for parts than paid for the car. Found a part of a pack of condoms hidden in a manila envelope under the seat of a car I bought from a buddy of my father in law in Texas. After we moved back up here a couple of years later there was a big blowup when he got caught messing around with a gal half his age.

  27. I don't have pictures, but i bought a 1931 Chevy wrecker and under the seat was a stick, like a ruler, marked off in increments, that said "be sure to check your gas before every trip", had a dealership name on it, can't remember what it was. Did a build on a 37 Chevy coupe and when i was putting the dash back together i found a 37 buffalo head nickle laying on a bracket. Gave it to the owner. Usually my stuff is full of trim that i can't figure out where it goes

Always enjoy looking for stuff in our project cars and always wear gloves. Besides the rodent droppings we often find things like interesting previous owners paperwork, old tools, loose change and kids toys. In 2000 at a Goodguys show I sold my 37 Chevy Sedan. I told the guy he could have the removable CB radio in the car because I did not use it much anymore. Over the years while working on other projects I would look for things I knew I should have but could never seem to find. In 2011 I had an opportunity to buy my old 37 back from another guy. The day I took it for a test drive, I had to laugh seeing the CB still in the car and still set on channel 19. Once I got the car back home I also found some of those little accessories that I spent so much time looking for all those years after I had sold the car.
For 13 years we ran an Auto Salvage yard. I could probably write a book on the things we came across in the cars we bought. Unfortunately some of the findings like Hypodermic needles and little baggies of stuff were not the kind of vehicle history we were interested in finding. Like I said " always wear gloves".

I bought an old OT British car years ago. Among the kids toys and McDonald's wrappers was a thoroughly pissed off possum. He made the trip from Wichita, KS to Kansas City, MO which must have pissed him off even more.

The plan was to leave him alone and maybe he would leave overnight. That did not happen. I had to call the city animal control to evict him
