Hey y’all, was lookin to get some insight on timing this 413 with 383 heads. I put in a proform electronic distributor and feel like I’m getting way too much advance. The instructions call for 5* initial timing. It runs pretty good there but when I hook the vacuum advance up it pulls almost 45* at 3000 rpm. The screw in the vacuum can is screwed all the way in and hooked up to the manifold port on the carb.

If you unplug the vac advance where is the timing?
Give us the total and initial.
I don't think 50° vacuum is to much.

  3. You'll get full vacuum advance at elevated steady-state RPM if the motor isn't under load, so that's normal. And I'll agree with Oldioron, I'd expect to see 50 degrees, maybe a bit more.
