I grew up looking at a lot of Yellow Hotrods in the 80's Magazines. Always liked them. This car was originally Coffee Cream so I decided to keep it... 20190323_130409.jpg

  11. Yellow was a fairly popular color when I painted my Model A 35 years ago. I wonder how popular it is these days? Probably not so much.

  17. Taken about 1971 or 1972. That's Phil Kendrick in the passenger seat, he had a 32 Ford Sedan that was chosen as one of the top 75 32 Fords. The truck was painted 64 VW Bug yellow.

Here's a picture of Phil's 32 Ford , the orange version was the one chosen as one of the top 75 32 Fords, but then it was redone and painted pearl yellow, and became the super prune. It was called the super prune because it had a prune painted on the back panel that when looked at up close, was all naked women.
Excuse the orange version, but I felt it was relevant to the history of the car. Also Phil had a chrome sponsorship from Continental plating in Oakland CA. Everything was chromed, it was all free. He had that sponsorship for years.

Similar, but not the same Chevy

    Hello,

On a clear, but hazy, Summer day, some of the nicest hot rods are out in the neighborhood. This yellow 1957 Chevy reminds me of this high school kid I once knew. He was a throwback to the late 50s era and loved hot rods. When all of the kids in the neighborhood drove VW bugs, Camaros, trucks, and lifted crappy sedans, he decided to go to a classic look of a bright yellow 57 Chevy post sedan. Why?

He mentioned that it was an era of nice cars, slightly modified, and easy to maintain, without any fancy computers or modern electrical systems. Slightly lowered and on a rake was the preferred look for him. Somehow, this young kid was transformed into a teenager with old style ideas in a newer era.

This was before the A.G. movie came out and the yellow Hot Rod Mag blower version, too. He had ideas for what he wanted to drive. So, it took him a while to get it somewhat finished and was a happy kid. The funny thing was, he turned down a nice BMW sedan his dad wanted to hand down to his son. But this teenager had different ideas. At first, the yellow 2 door post was not the most popular Chevy in the hot rod/cruising scene. Most liked the 2 door Bel Air Hardtop or the Nomad.

When I saw him cruising around, he waved, had a huge smile on his happy face. He looked like a throwback to 1957-63 era when we were teenagers cruising around in our Chevy sedans. But, back then, no one was brave enough to have a bright yellow Chevy sedan. They were mostly white, black and silver with one 54 Chevy being a custom green. Everyone has their own style as listed by the quote…
    "to each his own…”

I've always thought that if a car could be called a "showoff" a bright yellow one would take the prize.
