I really miss Guy's Grinders that was in Riverside. Had a decent car culture and really good grinders and was around the corner from our house.

  2. Weds night was In N Out night followed by Back to the Future on the big screen. I've been trying to get them to play some old car movies, but still nothing.........every once and awhile they'll play AG (American Graffiti).

Me too!. One of the guy's that worked there had a cool 64 Comet. It was red and he got too many tickets, so he painted it brown.

Most of the time we would go to Guy's Grinders instead of Tuxies on Magnolia. Tuxies was almost always too busy.

I would go to George's a lot on Magnolia across from the old General Hospital, which is now Lowes, after cruising Market Street.

I'd thought about something similar, but making it more of a rodder's destination. Buy the Van Buren Drive-in, put some decent food in it and get rid of the (non-auto) swap meet.

Perfect! All they sell there is new junk toys anyway. I stopped going in there 30 years ago.

    HeyFD,
    When’s the next cruise?

  16. Anybody ever see any cruising action at a Sonic drive-in? I ask because they're pretty much the only places left that have car hops. There are plenty of old cars in my area but I don't see them hang out at either of the Sonics in town.

We have a Sonic in Duarte off of Rte 66. In the 9 years that it’s been built, really haven’t seen a cruise nite in all of that time, but the young guys with the off topic cars meet over at the Best Buy around the corner and have 300 cars show up to that deal.
It’s really a different crowd. What we need is another group of really kool movies and tv series that show case the H.A.M.B. Lifestyle in order to inject a little life into what we love.

No idea. I just drive around when I get bored in my HHR or Ford Escape while drinking a diet soda and pretending that I'm in my coupe.

    I am so uncool...

  19. It would only be a 41 hour drive to my favourite Whataburger on San Bernardo in Laredo TX. Between 1970 and 1973, I used to drive down there at least once a week in my avitar, and order the deluxe cheeseburger and a side of jalapeño peppers.
There is a regular Thursday night get together at the local A&W, but I haven't been there in a while.

    Bob
