Thanks a lot for that background history @patmanta a. Especially helpful for people like me who are not from the area. I was just curious - was this place physically in St. Michaels?

I'm hoping to make it down, when is it? I think I saw the date posted somewhere but I forgot to put it in my calendar. Mom will be excited.

    Who's patmanda, LOL? ;p

That bridge now sits on the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum property next to Perry Cabin Inn.

This is by the Saint Michaels side of Royal Oak (Newcomb). Before the Oak Creek Bridge was built in the late 50's/early 60's, you used to have to drive down the no-shoulder, deep ditch road through Royal Oak. My grandfather was a manager at Acme (who just demolished one of their oldest stores in Saint Michaels) at the time and my mother told me a story about him having to go help pull the delivery truck for the store out of a ditch, sometime when she was little.

Apparently there is a Wikipedia page about it too. I never knew! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maryland_Route_33

Somewhere else on here are pictures that look to be from the old Claiborne Ferry landing, which didn't exist in my lifetime but iirc you can still see some of the rotting hulk of its dock. Once upon a time, Talbot County was connected with the western shore via that ferry and by railroad. All that went away when my mother was a child and relegated the community to a largely agrarian and seafood based economy. Now, many of the corn fields I remember now grow crops of vinyl siding instead with folks choosing to commute 2 hours back and 2 hours home to Annapolis, DC, & Baltimore in favor of cheap housing or multi million dollar waterfront properties.

It was our first visit to that part of Maryland. Being from New England it was very familiar. We loved it and will be back. This is a great event too. 1st class. Snowman

I just wanted to show you why I don't necessarily work on or publish each and every picture I take. In this case, the image from this year's Jalopyrama has had very little work on it because the picture just is not good enough to spend a lot of time on. Light is too bright, lots of hard to fix distractions, etc. Also, when I know I already have a world class image of the vehicle from a prior event, I am not all that worried about getting another image of it if it can't beat the first one. This is a really good example here if you compare the current picture with the posed one taken in much better light at the 2013 Rodder's Journal Revival. The TRJ 2013 image is one of my best ever and has been in my calendar and is in my new book called Car Art - 21st Century Hot Rods.
