Narrowing a 8.8 Ford rear end. Was putting it back together before welding and lost one of those damn axle retainers. Don't have a clue were it went, one minute it was there and the next it was gone. Spent 3 hours looking into that case and I cannot find it. Don't mind losing the retainer but with my luck it is setting in there and will come loose and tear everything up.

gearhead1600, Man I just bet that Sprite with a Small Block was one hand full. You just have to rebuild that little guy.

Back in the early 60's Hot Rod Magazine featured a bug eye with a SBC. That photo of the left front wheel shows their self lightening option. Last one I owned had B60-13s on 6" Vega wheels and you had to roll up your pants to drive it in the rain.

Worked on a new welding cart for my new TIG and plasma cutter. $30 for casters and wheels and some steel I had laying around in the way. Got more to do to finish up but it's time to call it a day. 20190518_133234.jpg 20190519_142106.jpg 20190519_163101.jpg 20190519_164336.jpg

Haven’t had much time behind the wheel of the sprite but I can tell you it gets awful light on the steering when you in it
It was to be scraped when I found it minus the motor
Lots on my plate but hoping to get to it , we shall see

They came in second place, but we get to keep and update the cart for next year.:)

Ground the rest of the plug welds inside the cab from welding in the new cab mounts. Floor is ready for prime and paint.... 20190519_155142.jpg 20190519_155258.jpg

The weekend was a washout but I made good use of the time. My OT Hot Rod had been sadly neglected during my truck build, all of the maintenance and repairs are done and it's time to get it detailed out for Mopars in the Park. There's no shortcuts working on a black car...

Yesterday was the Hot Rod 100. Today, between storms, washed the car, and SWMBO’s car, getting ready for next weekend’s cruise that a friend organizes every year. Grilled up some steaks and sweet potatoes for dinner. Now enjoying a Bourbon County Stout for desert.

Dug out some more junk, I mean rare auto parts and related collectables, for the Springfield, Ohio swap meet next weekend. Washed a bunch of 50's and 60's wheel covers to take along too. For some reason there seems to be more stuff and it gets heavier to load every year:eek:

Got up early , drove almost to the border to buy a Late 80s chevy truck bench seat that was pulled from a city vehicle when it was new . The seller wasn't BS ing it was perfect and been in dry storage for years:D It will make an awesome replacement for the one in my daily 56 pu as the current one is broke down ...even have fresh Mexican blankets to wrap it with. After that went to shop and assembled a Muncie M20 for a one owner 67 El Camino 350hp 327..Good day in my book.

Yesterday I pulled a knocking engine and stripped anything useful off of it. Today I hauled it and another off to scrap.

I've still got the ball bearing wheels I bought for my son's cubmobile. He won second prize with it. This was in 1995. I taught him how to weld with a MIG and use a circular saw and jigsaw when we built his. I even loaned the wheels out to a friend a few years later, his son won first place with them and 4 or 5 years ago he returned them. I still have the trophy! I tried to give it to him a few years ago and he said he wanted me to keep it for now so I proudly display it. 20190520_043454.jpg

20190520_203936.jpg Fixed a couple broken springs and the edge wire on the Unibody seat. Wrapped it with burlap and jute felt and ready for cotton and a cover....tomorrow

  22. Yesterday rubbed out the 44 year old lacquer paint on the Vette and applied a "ceramic" sealer called Hydrosilex Recharge. This car is slicker than greased owl shit now and it really enhanced the paint depth. Also did my O/T daily driver and it looks better than new. Seems like a good product but time will tell. Kinda expensive at $35 for a 16oz spray bottle but I used less than 1/2 of it doing 2 cars.

Got my Olds housing sandblasted. While waiting for my 10.00-15 Radir slicks to arrive I made up some quarter elliptic springs and brackets.

Cranked up the '63 and put it back in the driveway. Don't remember the factory seat being so damn low, even with collapsed upholstery (springs are fine). Might raise it a couple of inches. Amazing how light the non-power steering is in that car. No padding or carpet on the floor makes a hell of a thunderbucket!

After a great weekend my #1 helper fell in his yard and has a buckled fracture in his left arm. What have you guys done while an arm was in a cast? It will be a long two weeks for him.

I finally got all my Studebakers home that I bought last week, first one the 50 4dr , went pretty good . Returned the following day for the second one , it didn't go so well at first, 3 out of four of the brakes where stuck, so I drug it around a bit ...nothing ...looked at it awhile didn't feel like tearing into it then I remembered the owner saying something about being ok to use what ever tools if needed, so I looked around and found the perfect tool for the job...it worked so well I used it on the third car ,even though its brakes were not stuck, the next day it just made thing alot easier...and now I have four.. 20190518_145918.jpeg 20190518_145842.jpeg 20190519_125752.jpeg 15579341617271377394232805337800.jpeg IMG_20171130_225400.jpeg
