  1. I believe this is a really stupid question, but how much abuse can a mid year vette rear take?
    Everything has been rebuilt/replaced

Personally I don’t recommend hole shots. You can get away with a few , but pretty quick your trailing arm bearings will start making clicking noises; then the dreaded clunk noise while backing up. I find it best to roll her out to about 15-20 mph, then wail on her. There are successful drag mods that can be done, but I’m talking stock parts.

I use to live around the corner from him. Nice guy he later had a mid year vette that he raced, it was a med metallic red color and also a beautiful car, would love to find pics of it. Successful racer, he ran at Edgewater on a regular basis also Tri State in Hamilton and remember seeing him at the US Nats in Indy. Cars were always in beautiful condition. Use to love to hear him fire it up in his garage always sounded great. My dad fired up the road runner one day with the headers “uncapped” and within seconds Apricot was making a trip around the block to see where it was coming from.

Looks like one of the 1961 Yenko builds with a blower instead of the stack injection. I actually prefer the stack injection. Matter of taste I suppose. When I spoke to the guy from Yenko at one of the Meltdowns a few years ago, he told me the same owner owned all of the 61 builds and sold them a few years ago. One of them would be a fun car IMO.

LB that Vicious Vette is the old 1960 Corvette called Mr Pickett after Bob Pickett sold the car. Probably that above pic is 1975ish.
