History Do you know what a "Straight Shift" is ?

  1. My grandpa "Highpockets" use to call the gas pedal a "foot feed", If you think about it men from his period learned to drive T models and the accelerator was on the column. HRP

    I have heard most of these terms but as a teen in the sixties cars were either a stick or automatic.

  3. Model A's had both. They had the hand throttle on the steering column and the "foot feed" on the floorboard. My dad called it a "foot feed" and he learned to drive on a Model A.

  5. Where I grew up it was a straight drive.

    Maybe it is a southern thing.
