DSC02121.jpg Trying to find the part number for a Grant or Mooneyes steering wheel adapter for my 1957 Buick so I can finally put this wheel in there. Buick's up until '60 had I think it was a 3/4"-36 spline steering shaft. Chevy's and the like I believe were 11/16"-36 spline. Buick went that way after '60. I can't seem to find the box with my old catalogs in it and am trying to get this wheel in there before the Custom Car Revival. It should be just a 4 digit part number if I remember correctly. Thanks. I'll buy the first one with the answer a beer at the HAMB Drags if they go. A pic of the page with it on will get you a shot to go with it.

zman I've got 2 1965 catalogs but no help as Weiand sold Covico and Bell naturally sold Cragar. I think a Chev kit would suit your Buick (neither Covico or Cragar listed a kit for Buicks) as my 59 Olds wheel fits a local Aussie (GM) shaft.

  5. The Grant number your looking for is 3194. Says 1950 - 1960 and also some larger model 1961. Hope this helps. Good luck with your search as it shows it only fits those years Buick and 1953 - 1964 Cadillac

Thanks a bunch, that's what I was looking for. And thanks for the PM that there's one on eBay. But damn it's $200. I'll talk a file to a 11/16" one first. It's just 1/16".

It's rare, but I do check in and lurk. Had to register for the HAMB Drags too.

The Chevy ones are just a bit small. I have one of those. Been debating taking a file to it. If I don't see one for a reasonable price that's probably what I'll do .

All the adapters for the Cragar wheels were listed as being for 0.690" shafts or 11/16", there were none available for 3/4"
I gather by the price of the one on eBay that they are not made anymore. What about wrecking an old Buick wheel and making a hub out of the center piece.

They show up from time to time for a lot less than that guy wants. Right now I'm working on a bunch of stuff and don't want to spend a lot of time on the steering wheel. I'm getting ready for the Custom Car Revival in Indy. It's a couple weeks away so if I can find one it makes putting the other wheel on a an hour or so job. If I have to cut something down and drill and tap holes etc. It turns into a lot more time. If I don't get it done, I can take my time afterwards.

I may have a line on another one. A club member is helping clean out an old speed shop. Gave him the part number for him to check too. My fingers are crossed.

By any chance, was this adapter grant 3194 found? I’m in need of an adapter for my 59’ Buick. Thanks for the help.

The only one I found was on eBay and was expensive. I ended up taking another grant adapter and filing it out 1/16"

Just to to clarify. I took a Chevy 11/16" 36 spline one and a couple files and and opened it to 3/4" 36 spline.
