I wrote down how to get to the hamb and the build thread and the road trip for him. I’m sure he will be along shortly to fill us in on his further adventures.

  12. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this car. I too was waiting for my name to be called, but it wasn’t about the car was it. What a great way to raise $$ for a great cause. Great story and great charity. You’re a good guy.

My goal was to not only raise money for the charity, but to raise awareness of the charity and the kids with congenital heart defects. The response ended up reaching worldwide. I just met someone who followed along via here and Facebook the journey this car has been. He was from the 3rd country outside of the US that I had the chance to meet in person that followed the build. Crazy. I'm still just a hack with a hammer that takes decent pictures, I swear. Thanks for following the journey. I may need to do another build thread again. Maybe next winter. I have to finish some back burner stuff first.

  14. I have really enjoyed this thread! Respect to you for all that you did on this car & for the kids!

Hope the winner keeps us updated. Congrats (said with the green monster of envy sitting on my shoulder). Lovely little car and for a great cause.

Did you know about the Speedway ad, or did they poach a photo of your car and print it w/out permission? It's flattering on the one hand, but on the other hand, you built that thing literally from raw materials, not out of a Speedway catalog.... Maybe I'm reading into it too much from this side of the computer screen... congrats to the new owner. Bitchin car.

Tim, that photo is one from the photo shoot that speedway set up for us. Speedway donated a ton of parts to this car and requested that I come to their cars and coffee last year. Speedway had my back on this from the get go it was more than gracious with parts, discounts and otherwise. There are a lot of parts that go into a car that you can buy from the catalog even when everything else is fabricated. I don’t know how to fabricate a carburetor for example.

I wish I had a really cool answer for you, but I've just been drowning in a 1940s period-esque house remodel... I'm on a tight budget so I spend most of my time hunting for stuff at the Rebuilding Center, Earthwise Salvage in Tacoma/Seattle, and on CL. I'm having a blast, but I haven't done anything hot rod related in over a year.... I don't see it happening anytime, soon either, which kinda sucks. There's not enough time/money for me to do both unfortunately. I'm not done with hot rods though! Just taking a break (and still trolling the HAMB for inspiration).

edit: I have considered doing a build thread for the house on here in the Antiquated section, but I don't know how it would be received (and I also don't have a lot of progress to show yet, but I've got photos etc to share if I decide to do so later).

My bad for assuming incorrectly LOL. Congratulations on your success. I really enjoyed watching this go together and learned a lot. I didn't think it would look good with a hood until you had it on there, then I couldn't see it without one. Seriously awesome build.
