Found this kind of interesting, the choice vehicle for a Corvette repair shop. 20190509_232045(0).jpeg

Sam Cunningham in the near lane with his topless 61. Extremely successful car and National Champion. A bit too fuzzy for me to hazard guess on the far lane. Any idea what track and when?

Would like to know more about the car this chassis was used in. The hoop is familiar but certainly not exclusive. Any more info on that Terry?

Ya, Jim that track was Bristol and its the NHRA Spring National's the magazine is Hot Rod September 1967, this picture is unedited , it's a little clearer, maybe.
And that frame was just a shot in a article about roll bars and frames and that was all there was on that . 20190510_063114.jpeg

This one was also at Bristol, and again no mention of it being a Corvette, the more I see this car it's starting to look lesser of a Corvette to me. 20190510_062850.jpeg

The tail end looks Corvette, but someone went to a lot of trouble to make the front ugly, IMO.

Thanks Terry. I believe the only thing Corvette on the Matney car MAY be the valve covers. It is also a shame that Cunningham is not mentioned more often. In 67 for instance he won class at the Winternationals, the Springnationals and the U.S. Nationals-not all bad.

The first Chevy to receive the L72 427 was the 1965 Mako Shark II Concept show car

  9. I have a slot car with this body, it was my favorite when I was a kid. I still get a warm fuzzy feeling when I see it ( the real one AND the slot car!)

  10. Here’s one I photographed yesterday. IMG_0628.JPG whoops , wrong photo. IMG_0618.JPG that’s better.

These two photos are from my high school letter writing days. GM was nice
enough to come up with some photos.

  19. I’ve had that since the 70’s, probably found it at a garage sale. A buddy and I combined our slot car tracks on his ping pong table way back in the day. When we got older it all just got abandoned in the basement. After his moms funeral we were poking around down there and found my box, it’s been in my shop since then.
We both are 56 Chevy men as well, it seems.

  20. LOL - yes, we are both '56ers. I vaguely remember buying my tacklebox new in the 70's as I did use it for fishing originally, but it got repurposed years ago as my 'guitar junk box' and has been ever since.

Rudestude I believe that C3 (I hate that term) is a Motion Corvette. Custom Enterprises did all the bodywork modifications on the Motion Corvettes. They are on LI, I would see a lot of them in the day.

I had the hood scoop for my 62 Corvette made by Custom Ent. back around 74 when I was building it. I really liked that car. The last picture is as it looked 2 yrs ago, repainted same color.
