Here's my coupe after the chop. I decided on 5.0", I think it looks right on. Thanks Matt for the photo double. View attachment 4278070 View attachment 4278071 View attachment 4278072
Hi Bajita, no paint for the time being. I'm ordering a 3 carb. setup for it. Sloppy Jalopies on the chops, I feel comfortable driving them with 4 to 6 inch chop. I use a traffic viewer for the traffic light without any problems.
I had some people asking if it would be for sale. yes, I always sell them, but I usually test them out thoroughly to make sure everything works flawlessly. Maybe in about the first week in June. I haven't checked my numbers for what it will sell at. I can get back with price. I'm planning on ordering a three deuce carb. setup for it. Other than that, its pretty much finished, no paint or upholstery, which would just bring up the price.
Chopped one 6.5" in the late 80s... a rod club asked for the scraps as they were going to roast a fellow club member who was a restorer at their xmas party.... he took it well... doesn't hate me... now owned by a fellow hamber, any pix Rick ? ... GO Rosie GO !
Hey m., Great looking jalopy and the chop really makes it! Could you give me the specs. on the coilovers that you used? Thanks, Carp
Hi Carp, thanks for the kind comments. On the coil overs, I get them from So Cal from 180 to 220 adjustable.
Trying to decide fuel injection or the 3 deuce setup from Holley. I notice Edelbrock has come out with an injection setup similar to the early Corvette's version. Anyone have any experience with them. I will post a photo of one.
I thought it looked pretty good with out the chop. But, I have say that the chop really suits your build. Nice stance. Nice job. Sent from my SM-G930T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Pete on here chopped one 6 or 7 inches a couple years ago and brought it to TROG. It was #52b I think.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments, I'm also thinking the injection will end up costing way more money. I don't normal use a hood ,so I can show off the engine. I am very happy with the look of her since the chop. The radiator is a 3 row aluminum , with a Components Cooling electric fan and shroud that keeps her cool in the hot summer months. I love the look on this Holley 3 deuce setup. Its a little pricey at $2000.
hey m.ralph wow...it turned out really cool...hope you had fun with it...it appears as you really know what you are doing when it comes to building these old hot rods... Looks awesome from here...keep up the great work... do you do this for fun or do this for a living? MikeC
Hi Mike, I do this for fun, build about 3 or 4 a year. Its finding the steel bodies that slow me down. I'm just started on another Model A coupe , its a nice 31 , I will chop her too, I have most of the parts now , so it won't take that long. Only thing that I need is a Ford nine inch differential, 350 gears, open or posi with 31 splines. Anyone out there have one for sale, near Houston?
chopped coupes. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/model-a-coupe-showing-different-chops.869524/
Thanks 1946caddy, that's a nice site. I started one similar to it last year. Asking for chopped coupes to see which I liked the most for doing my 1932 Ford coupe. I settled on the 5 inch and it looked great. Its my avatar.
Car looks great with the chop. I think the grille shell needs to come down about an inch. It looks like it's taller than the cowl. Go 3 deuces, the fuel injection will get you shut down on this site, not HAMB friendly.
FA Whitewalls, you are right it needs to be lowered maybe an inch or more. It would be hard to do without changing shell and radiator. Or moving it forward to lower it in front of the cross member. Looking straight at it from the side its more noticeable.
