Lots of Chevrolet promotional pictures appear to have been taken near Carmel for the ‘57 models. Others are recognizably from Scenic Drive.

I don't know the source of this photo, though it reminds me a something my grandpa told me when I was a boy. In the post-WW2 period some automobiles were shipped down the Mississippi River on barges. He went on to say that a barge load of Henry J's sunk near Cairo, IL when struck by another barge. Sounds incredible, I know, but I believe my grandpa. Is that a picture of an auto barge used on a river, or maybe one of the great lakes? Anybody else know of shipping cars along a river?
